I'm picking up my IB/W MCS on Monday at 4:30. Yes, I have no willpower. I was supposed to be waiting until the Passat sold but I just can't stand it anymore. I've got my loan in place, I've got the insurance all squared away so what am I waiting for?

Went down to the dealer to ask a couple questions today and I'm beginning to see why people recommend avoiding these people. When I put my deposit down I was told that they would remove the car from the showroom for safe keeping. Sure enough, I walk in there today and my car is still sitting in exactly the same spot with people crawling all over it. There is a "sold" sign on it but still.

I asked my MA and he said the manager decided he wanted to keep it on the floor since they didn't have any cars to put in there (hello, there was a used 2002 MCS on the floor right next to mine with no "sold" sign on it). At least they locked mine so nobody can get inside.

Then my second disappointment/annoyance came when I asked out of curiosity how much it would cost to get the clear bra installed. I read on here that someone had it done by their dealer for $500-$600. Nope, not in Princeton. They charge $1100!!! That's not happening.

But enough about all that. I'M GETTING MY CAR IN TWO DAYS!!!! Monday will be a useless day for me at work. I can feel it already. I never thought I'd say this, but I wish the weekend was over. Is it Monday yet?

$1100 is a tad bit pricey. My dealer suggested roadblock (better than invincashield), but said it was about $590 installed where the invinca is about $450. We got the guy to do the roadblock for $450 (only reason he went was because they didnt really have a guy that was pro with the invinca, only with roadblock).

JGirl,

Congratulations! I know how impatience can feel. I had to sell my Ferrari so I could make room for my MC. I did it but it took some time! After taking a trip to Flow Mini in North Carolina, I decided NOT to buy from a dealer (see my dealer evaluation on Flow). I just hate haggling and the "superior than thou" attitudes. I vowed to buy from an independent seller who was in the same boat I was with the Ferrari and now, you are with your VW. It feels great to finally sell a car....Good luck!! Let's see some photos on monday!

Congrats on the new IB/W MCS, Robyn!!! I'm sure you won't sleep until you take delivery....or if you do sleep, you will dream of your baby!

Can't wait to see your pics!

Cheers!

Jerseygirl - Don't forget to bring the following:
1. Camera (for memory lane)
2. Checklist. You can make up your own but there have been some posts that have great checklists for what to look for. Do not drive that MINI off the lot until the dealer has taken care of anything that fails your checklist.
3. Insurance. I got mine set up before driving off the lot. Your insurance company would appreciate the VIN #. (I once saw someone drive off a dealer lot ((non-MINI)) and about a block away was in a mean crash at the intersection).
[edit-just re-read your post. you got that squared away]

Happy Motoring

Charles, I will definitely be posting in the dealer review section but I'll wait until I pick the car up so I can see if anything else happens.

No, it is not Monday yet. But just think how quickly the time will go...you can spend some of it in your garage, making sure that your IB/W has a clean home.

Looking at your photos of the VW, I think I've discovered who the poor schlubs are--your next door neighbors, who will have see your MINI every day!!!

Hey Robyn, I'm having a hard time believing your VW hasn't sold yet. $4,300/obo seems like a pretty good range for that well maintained wagon. There has to be some college kid who wants to grab a car like that for school.

Ok, I know this is a thread about getting the new car, but had you said Princeton, I think ALL of us could have warned you.

In 1 year (last week) of MINI'ing, I have yet to read a nice, or even neutral thing about Princeton. They must think they are G-d's gift to the MINI world. It seems they go out of their way to annoy customers.

Not to necessarily push the two dealerships that I deal with (yup, 2. I'm spoiled.) but they say please, thank you and fill me up with coffee. And black and white are just that, not shades of gray.

Anyway, get a few thousand miles under your belt and then (next week or so) we can start discussing mods. I didn't think I would go that route (I did want a roof rack for carrying spare tires during a rally) but after the BMP intake, Magna exhaust, now the Helix pulley and a few other bits and pieces, the car is even more fun then before.

Probablem is, it was more then enough fun right off the factory floor too! You are gonna love owning this car.

That's a good idea. I think I'll sweep out the garage floor so Nittany's feet won't get dirty.

I'm still confused by the VW not selling as well. I've had several calls about it but nobody has actually come to look at it yet. It is incredibly clean inside and out and runs great. It should sell itself if anyone actually comes to see it in person. It's only been listed for a little over a week so I need to be a bit more patient. It would be a great car for a college kid. I may put it in my local paper as well to see what happens.

I doubt the neighbors will be too jealous of my new little car. They are SUV/pick-up people. Of the 7-8 vehicles that visit there regularly only one of them is a car, and it's a Buick Le Sabre at that. Somehow I don't think they'll have much appreciation for the MCS.

NOW is it Monday?

I know. I did read the reviews about Princeton and I would not have gone there were it not for the fact that they had what I wanted sitting in the showroom. I would have gone to Morristown if I had to order and I will definitely be going there for service in the future, even though it's about an hour from my house. I can't stand the whole Princeton attitude. I guess they're doing me a favor selling me a car. Lucky, lucky me. The problem is that most of the people around here seem to have a lot of money to waste (not me!) and apparently the idea is "the more it costs, the better it must be". So an $1100 bra installation must be twice as good as a $500 installation. After that I want some new bonnet stripes, a roof decal, a set of snow tires and wheels. I'd love to get the plastic trim painted out in body color but that's too expensive. Plus, there's all the performance stuff to consider. Eeek, I need a second job.

>> You are gonna love owning this car.

My first test drive was in VolperCooper's car and I fell in love with it in about 5 minutes. I think I enjoyed that test drive even more than my M3 test drive. Don't get me wrong, the M is still a blast, but I have never been so completely blown away by a car on such a short drive. I know I'm going to love owning it. I've already got the maiden voyage planned for tomorrow evening.

Jerseygirl,
That's great. Now focus on selling your Passat ASAP. Meanwhile you can enjoy your MINI after Monday.
Having the car in the showroom is both good and bad. In the lot it is exposed to the elements and the other cars-might get hit. In the showroom the people will hover round it. When I see a car in the showroom with a sold sign I try to stand clear a bit. It makes the dealer look good that things are selling. Plus it can't be stolen when it sits in the showroom. Your baby is waiting for you. It'll be all over soon.

Send us some pics!

Jerseygirl...It is now closer to Monday than it is to Saturday...is your garage clean yet?

I finished cleaning out the inside of my Saturn; tomorrow I order a Zaino kit so I can detail it before giving it away. With any luck I'll be motoring by Labor Day!

Deli, my garage has been cleaned out and the M3 has been moved over to the smaller garage bay so the new baby has plenty of room to adjust to it's new surroundings.

Robyn -
I know you are just so excited! No sleeping tonight!
Do not forget to take photos and post them for us!

Don't worry about selling the car! Ever notice that when faced with a deadline, everything always works out! I bet that at the point you are just about to make your first MINI payment, the wagon will sell!

Have a great day today!

and Deli - you are looking at Labor Day! How exciting! No sleep for you either!!!
