R50/53 Is your MCS your #1 or do you rely on something else?
My Mini used to be my DD, and I had a beater for snowy days and trips to nyc. Now that my commute went from 10 miles to about 30, i replaced the beater with a 95 Saab 900 turbo for commuting to keep the miles off the MINI. It's comfortable, gets about 25mpg, and scoots pretty good with a tuned ecu running 20psi! It handles like crap, tho. The MINI now comes out mainly on weekends, and now that I have a garage space in my building, it doesn't even need to see rain.
I recently bought mine used for DD. However 80% of the mileage has been spent in traveling to the dealer. So far my motoring experience goes like
1. take it to the dealer for repair;
2. take it out for a brief test drive;
3. make another appointment or order some parts;
4. the car sits pretty in the garage for two weeks while waiting for the appointment/parts.
5. goto 1.
I don't feel relying on it yet. Hopefully the shakedown process will be completed soon.

Our 03 Cooper is the wife's DD for Spring through Fall.
During Winter time or when it snows, it's my turn to drive it and she will then use the Honda Odyssey. In the meantime, the daily driver for me is a 93 miata and the M3 is the garage queen.

Same here.
Rain / sleet / snow, road trips and daily driving, hot rodding / cruising / cleaned up and stepping out, the MINI has been the best car I've ever owned.

I have an '07 Colorado Crewcab that is my off-road, winter, and hauling vehicle; a '89 red 'vette convertible for sunny Sundays, my '03 MCS for fun and an '07 HD StreetBob for that open feeling just about anytime.
My Wife's DD is an '07 Nissan Murano.
I drive what fits me for the day--best of all worlds...

Not the Mini
My 2004 MCS JCW is my toy. I have a 1999 F350 turbo diesel with 380,000 miles on it as my DD and a 2008 F250 TD as backup. These are heavy duty tow vehicles for an excavation service, miles rack up quickly.
Mine is my DD. I wouldn't have it any other way. I have a 13-mile commute (one way) and look forward to driving my Mini each day. We own three cars (Mini, MazdaSpeed3, older Ford Escape), and a motorcycle. My husband drives either the Mazda or the bike. My step-daughter drives the Escape to the high school because we don't want any of our "nice" cars that we really like going there.
The Mini is MINE.

MCS is my DD, BUT when it is paid off, I would like to get a super high MPG for my DD and semi-retire the MCS to the exalted position of "fun car". I'll see what is available when the time comes.
