That's a sweet SXE.
I don't want to know how much an original would go for now.

Enjoy your new Porsche. Funny thing, I sold my Porsche 911 to go to a MINI. After having Porsches for over 20 years I don't miss it, but MAYBE would buy one again down the road. But I will always have a MINI in the garage. For now I'm having too much fun with the MINI and I have also had far more fun with the MINI people at the national events such as AMIV and MOTD.

I have both a Porsche and the Mini. While the Porsche gets more looks, the MINI is more fun to drive.

I loved my 993, last of the aircooled Porsches. I bought the 04 MCS as a commuter for 80 mile per day commute. It turns out the MINI was more fun to drive, perhaps that old cliche "it's more fun to drive a slow car fast" works here. I ended up selling the Porsche as it tended to sit more and more and the money could be put to better value for my son's education. I may have another 993 some day but it will only be for the reason that I have always loved the sound of the aircooled 911's and their visceral driving experience. There's too many Porsches in Southern California driven by non-enthusiats that have tarnished some of the exclusivity in choosing to drive a Porsche. Also, I thoroughly enjoy the adventuresome group of MINI owners that love to get out and drive.

I love our new MINI, it's a great car. I prefer driving my Boxster though. But that's just my opinion. Both are great, but I prefer the Porsche (whiich is only expected given the price difference).

I have always wanted a Porsche 911 Carerra, it is my dream car. I just couldn't justify the price tag. My husband said I could order a MINI just the way I wanted.... I'm happy. Who knows one day, I might just decide to buy that Porsche.

Congratulations Nathan!!!

Nice Porsches everyone. I do have to say I do feel a bit sensible and middle aged driving the Porsche compared to driving the fun looking MINI!

Here's my current Porsche, and a picture with the car it replaced. Will be putting a deposit down for a C2S later this summer.

Stu, nice 987 you have there. I really like the subtle line changes that were made to that car - small but significant, IMO.

Wow, at first I didn't care for that car when I first saw some sketchings of it a few years ago. Now I think it looks pretty darn nice!

I remember when I took my 911 in for a brake job, sold it next week. Mx was crazy and that was years ago.

Congrat's to the OP on your purchase, best of luck. To answer your original question on your post, I think $15k was fair, maybe you could have gotten an extra $1k going private, but carmax is an easy deal.

I think $100k might be a bit much though for a sub 14 second car, no matter whose name is on the boot.

If I was looking at it that way, an EVO with some modifications would suite me just fine.
