do you know if you have lsd, if not and your taking off rather quickly you will force your car to lean a little bit and lose trackion on that one wheel wich will keep it from kicking that hard, i do that alot, but i also motor like im racing someone

My '05 does this once in a while - especially when cold. If you give it more in the gas:clutch-release ratio, you may avoid the hesitation. I turn my DSC off in situations like railroad crossings, pulling out onto a busy 4 lane highway (RT 9W in NJ for example).
I don't mind burning a little RF rubber to get my **** moving.

thanks for your input guys,i do have lsd and it happens when hot or cold, thats the confusing part,at first i thought it had something to do with the fact that i had changed the handling characteristics due to suspension changes, maybe messing with the way the dsc works, any more thoughts?

I think this is just a MINI characteristic that takes getting used to. We've had many cars over the years with manual transmissions, and the MINI requires a bit more tip in on the accelerator than other cars. Just adjust the timing of your gas pedal down/clutch pedal out sequence so that there is a bit more lead for the gas. We have DSC/ESC as well as the LSD on our 06 S as well.

My 06 MCS does this sometimes (although mostly when on the cold side). I have LSD also, but it feels more like the throttle by wire is being really slow to pass the signal on to accelerate. It does it inconsistently and infrequently enough that I just live with it.

The DSC is the most annoying thing when it comes to going over bumps and railroad crossings, or even pulling out onto a road from a street that was at a different angle than the road you are pulling onto. I ride with my DSC turned off as long as I remember to flick that switch right as I turn the car on.

Anyway, not to thread-jack, I apologize.

wrxmini, I notice this a lot when my engine is cold, I never rev above like 3750rmps when the engine is cold, but even at the low rpms I feel a lot of lag in throttle, it makes shifting smoothly a bit of a chore. However, once my engine is up to temperature I've never noticed anything out of the ordinary. Out of 90 degree turns, full throttle with DSC off, I get some pretty wheelspin and it just takes off.
