Bonnet stripes measurements ?

My MCS does not have the bonnet stripes and I absolutely want those.

The thing is that I guess that the dealership will sell them for a good amount of money, the price for this option on the mini.ca website is 160$CDN.

A friend of me have a car vinyl company and he said he would do the stripes for me.. Now the thing is that I want them to look as OEM as possible.

Anyone know where I can get the measurements for the bonnet stripes ?
(width of the stripes and a point of reference/measurement to make sure they are installed right)

Thanks,
--Ben

I had a vinyl stripe shop do mine recently, too....they came out beautifully, just like factory.
The stripes are 5" wide,.....36" long.
The factory stripes are installed in the "long" or "short" position ....I did the short, which lay about 1/4" to the outside of the washer nozzles at the top,....and then 9" from the center of MINI emblem at the bottem,...where it meets up to top edge of grille. These 2 measurements will be the inside edge of your stripes.
The long stripe position is more to the outside, similar to the position of Classic Mini stripes.....I dont know measurements for these....someone else might be able to help with this.

The OEM-cut stripes aren't straight - they have a curve towards the front, so when applied to the curved bonnet the final look you get is "straight"...

actually it bends outward to achieve the straightness.

Hello Ben,

I bought mine from these guys on e-bay... autosportdecals@yahoo.co.nz
$32.15 CAD including shipping to Toronto from NZ...I have a friend that does vinyl as well, but he could not do it less than this as he did not have any of the perfect OE shape to copy....time + material meant a BIG favour....for $33 I'd rather not abuse the friendship.

My .02 cents.
Cheers, Sean

Does anyone have a template of the OEM bonnet or boot stripes?
wanting to do a bit of custom artwork on a set, but want them to curve just right.

Thanks

Actually, I am matching the bonnet and boot stripes up with my 30th Anniversary Trans Am. The indigo blue of the mini matches perfectly the darkest blue on the trans am stripes, the white is opposite the dark blue, the 1" outlined middle blue vinyl I found couldn't quite match the pontiac's, but should look nice against the darker indigo blue.
was thinking I needed curved stripes, but I think straight will work. Of course, I'm cutting a template before i cut the vinyl to be sure i get it right.

I caught this link here yesterday.

Appearantly this is an actual Mini dealer that sells quite a bit below retail. The bonnet stripes range between $60-$70 a pair. The company I work for has a Mini dealer and my employee cost per stripe is $39. Glad to see they are giving me a discount...

leave it to the brits to be open minded with giving the sizes:

http://www.chatomsigns.co.uk/mini-stripes-graphics.html

measurements all in metric, but placement and size shown with instructions--
the curve is slight, but makes it look better.

here is a vectorized pdf if anybody needs a local sign shop to cut their own or if you want to cut from raw materials. Check your measurements for you own car of course, I can take no responsibility for not measuring. I printed these out on a wide format printer, not a plotter/cutter for a hand cut on my car. Boot stripes are the same but shorter. Mine are a little furthur out from washer spouts because I was wanting to add a small 1/2" outer stripe one day. Costs about 5-6 foot of avery vinyl for $5.00. I see these on ebay sometimes for about $10 + shipping.
these made for non-S cooper.
