I think he's talking about purely tacky aesthetic mods, not parts that actually make power.

For the record I'm almost $65k into my car. Guess I'm a ricer.

No, not really. That's only if you're moding your car using stupid mods like neons or crappy mods like CAI hoping that you're going to make your car fast, or even worse, look fast.
I bought mine for what it is and am not planning on moding it as I know that no matter what I do it will never be fast.

Rustyboy155 - woudn't you much rather have stock Porsche or M3 for that price? I know I would, no matter how much I loved the MINI.
I loved my WRX but if presented with an option of putting $65K to that vs. buying almost $90k supercar, I'd take supercar
Actually I woudn't. I'd just buy STi or EVO and use the "change" to run full season in Rally America in WRX, but that's just me

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion........

I think he (or she) should do whatever they like - it's their car - and we need to keep our opinons either constructive (how to do it, best place to buy) etc or supportive.

I'm not one of our younger MINI owners and I always thought these things looked cool if done properly..........

I'm curious why they're illegal in some states? Doesn't seem like they'd harm anything or somehow be mistaken for a LEO.......

I asked a CHP about that. Too many accidents on the freeway by people looking at the glow instead of the road was one reason he said. Plus he said that blue, red, and orange lights from a distance at night make people think an emergency vehicle is somewhere behind them.

see but that's all perspective as most things are. If you consider fast low ET's in the 1/4, or fast as in 'i can take a 90 degree corner at 60'. But for everyday around town if you do a few mods to the MCS (say 2k worth) most of your 'stoplight drags' you would win b/c the car would be 'fast'. But I do get what you mean. It will never be a 1500 hp monster... wouldn't that be sweet though!?!?!?!? lol

Yeah, it's kind of subjective. I'm concerned about the acceleration from corner to corner, the way it takes off the line. Yes it's quick in the corners but there is also road between the corners, plus too much power to the wrong wheels and you're just loosing it since the car can't put it down and suffers from the torque steer.

people have... but they don't talk about it lol I'm j/k to each his own to repeat everyone else. It's really straight forward. The kit comes with clips and screws for you to mount them to the bottom of the car, and each tube has it's own set of wires, obviously keep the wires away from moving parts. the transformer I would mount in the boot area and try to find a body hole to stick the wires through. THe transformer has to be grounded through the housing in most cases. It's basically just one big series circuit. Mount the transformer run your wires, ad power and instant MINI UFO.
visit http://www.streetglow.com/site/support.index.php maybe that can answer some questions for you as well.

Do you mean the thin peice of sheet metal undernear the battery box? if so I wouldn't modify it, I haven't looked under mine in a while, but can't you mount it up a little higher? You dont want people to see the bulbs when they are turned on, otherwise it kinda defeats the "purpose".
