I only have 800 miles on my 03 MCS but so far the CD players works great as does the rest of the stuff. I have owned several cars over the last 35 years, but my MINI gives me more smiles to the mile than any other car I have ever owned!

Mine stopped working two evenings ago, but then started working again the next morning. Since I bought my MCS, the CD player's skipping habit seems to get progressively worse, then suddenly clears up on some days only to return later. I think on many boards, the conclusion has been made that the MINI CD player is ****. With my experiences so far, I tend to agree.

This is why we have warranties- hopefully if the CD player fails you can get the dealer to replace it.
I had a little skipping problem and have since replaced the entire audio system including adding a Nakamichi CD-400 CD player which I like. Very basic-all black, nice CD player (about $400) matches the black center console, no nonsense- no fancy graphics. Just good audio-and reliable.

Amazing... Alpines are usually bullet-proof and last 10 years.

Yes, I had a similar problem but it was my fault. I tried to loas a cd when one was already in there & after I ejected that one the CD player still though there was a disc in it & would not accept a new one. If I hit eject it would make ejecting sounds, the CD indicator would go out momentarily then come back on. If I hit the mode button to switch to CD, it would try to play the CD that wasn't there & then display DISC ERROR.

Since radio in Vegas sucks, after three weeks I figured I couldn't make it much worse by jamming a postcard in the slot and sliding it back and forth in an effort to repair it.

It worked. Now I'm not saying try this at home...
I've had no problem since.
