R50/53 That purple stuff, part 2
That purple stuff, part 2
So.
I just spent an enjoyable couple of hours changing the oil and filter, as well as changing the fluid in my gear-box.
The engine oil is the much-vaunted Royal Purple 5w-30. I'm kind of a cynic when it comes to trying new stuff, especially after hearing all the raves about this oil.
It may be my imagination, but it feels as if the throttle response is a little, uhm, crisper, especially off the line. I think the engine sounds a little quieter too. It'll be interesting to see if there is an improvement in my mileage, which sucks eggs (around 23 mpg).
In defense of the car, most of my driving is around town, with liberal applications of throttle.
The gear-box got fresh RedLine MTL 90. What a pain in the *** re-filling that thing! The car definitely shifts more smoothly.
All in all, not a bad way to spend a day off. The temperature is in the mid-50s, and sunny.
I'm just sayin'....
