Picked up Indi Blue 2003 CVT (production date 6-6) on June 27- 2 weeks later battery light started flickering on start up-went to dealer was told it's a computer glitch- diagnostics say all is fine can't do anything for it. Yesterday while lookig for a parking space and going 10mph- car stalls. No big surprise from what I've read- but this is my first new car in 16 years and I just lost it.
I'm going to the dealer 8am tomorrow- and am trying to think positively- but I have lost all confidence in driving this car that I was psyched for since I ordered it in March.Anyone out there with happy endings- that similar trouble was fixed for good - please don't post the non happy endings- I'm at wits end as it is.
Thank you to those who suggested replacing the wiring harness-anyone have same experinece and use Prestige Mini in Mahwah? Thanks for listening Lisa

i had a 2002 cvt and the stalling stopped after i had the last software update. as for the battery light flickering i'm sure its purely just electrical and you should bug them to fix it.
Your Cooper CVT should have at least version 33.2 of the engine management software. When you bring it in tomorrow morning be sure to discuss this with both your service advisor and technician.
We have enjoyed our 2002 Cooper CVT for nearly 11 months and 11K+ troublefree miles. We currently have software version 33.2 installed in our car and it is smooth as silk...absolutely zero problems. We have never had any battery lights flickering or anything like that. Work with your dealer and make sure that the car has the latest software update loaded in its DME.

The people at Prestige MINI in Mahwah are very nice. Chris Buck is the service manager over there and he is more than willing to help. Just keep on them to fix it and be sure to have all your visits documented. If worse comes to worst you may be able to enact the lemon law. My uncle had to do that for his BMW from Prestige last year.
Good Luck! I wish you the best.

Hi speedy57. We got our cars almost at the same time! I think
I picked up my indi blue CVT on june 21. I also had the blinking
battery light a couple of times when I first got it but nothing since
then. I've never had the rpm's dip down low enough to even
come close to stalling. That should be an easy fix. I think you
will find that the CVT has very little problems and is probably
one of the least talked about thing on this site( problem wise).
