Yeah: cost of 1 liter of water > cost of 1 liter of gas

Now with the pads, shall I go OEM or ceramic? I'm not looking for high performance, but I hate the dust so much!!!

I made up my mind and going for HAWK ceramic pads rear and front. Any issues you found running cermic pads? Noise? Wear? Any minotr things compared to the OEM ones?

A lot of people run Hawks and absolutely love them. The only thing being, if your rotors are of a cheaper quality, those Hawks will eat them alive.

Yeah, they were recommended by the rotors vendor, SP. I just asked for ceramic pads and they mailed back with Hawk qoute. Are SP rotors good ones?

No experience with those. I have Green Stuff on Brembo blanks and am very happy with my setup.

If you have the extra $$$, do it. The stainless lines won't expand nearly as much if at all compared to the OEM rubber lines. I should get this done on my car when I get the system flushed.

I've got some people recommending to stay away from Hawk ceramics. They said it's squeeking and noisy. Is that right? I'm going to use them on SP drilled slotted rotors nickel plated.

Ask them how they installed them and ask if they follwed the directions correctly? Did they just put them on? Read Below in BLUE

Do take recommendations from people that have not done the work themselves and never used the product before.

I had Hawk HP on a Maxima and they are great pads.

You you want to race and stop or have low dust? Read up my friend

Q: Why should I follow a break-in procedure on new brake pads?
A: Correct brake pad break-in (bedding) is important to assure quality braking performance over the life of the pad. This procedure allows the rubbing surface of the brake pad to be brought to temperatures, creating a transfer-film layer of friction material to be applied to the rotor surface. This allows the brake pad material to rub against itself rather than the bare rotor. This increases the stopping performance of the brake pad and can reduce pad and rotor wear.

Q: What causes breaks to squeal?
A: There are a number of reasons why a person can experience brake noise. Sometimes brake squeal can be an indicator that there is a problem. Maintenance is required if you experience brake squeal for any of the following reasons:
  • [*]
Sometimes a user may experience brake noise when no maintenance is required. We call these NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) issues. Brake squeal is typically caused by vibration between the brake pads, rotors, and brake calipers. Some brands of semi-metallic brakes are more likely to experience brake squeal due to the metallic ingredients in the brake pads. Hawk Performance has a great reputation for being a low noise, high performance pad.

Q: What can I do during installation to ensure my brakes won't squeal?
A: First, choose Hawk Performance high performance disc brake pads as your upgrade over other aftermarket brake suppliers. The next best steps you can take to avoid having noisy brakes are:
  • [*]

I saw the zimmerman slotted/drilled on minispeed.net. I like them and they are really the OEM ones. How's the life time of those and where did you get them from?

With my OEM rotors they are squeek free. Have about 15K miles on them. I did like below. Beding done and anti squeal on backs as with all brake jobs.

There is no such thing as safe street racing. And there are guidelines here on NAM that forbid posting about street racing, so stick to the brake talk.

I've used my hawk ceramics on both aftermarket slotted rotors (thrown away due to cracking....) and OEM rotors. They are absolutely silent on both types of rotors and seem very gentle on the rotors as far as wear also. It's the more agressive Hawk pads (HP+ and full race pads) that start to chew up on rotors a bit and make noise.

Yeah Mark. Let's stick to the brake talk. Seems like couple of posts about daily thoughts made a big deal here on NAM. I received PMs and lots of comments over this thread and others. Anyways, let's stick to whatever thread's subject.
