R50/53 Exhaust Questions
i have to agree that the remus looks waaaaay better in real life than the stock photo they use...
milltek's are great for fit/quality. not loud enough for my taste
ive had my alta for over 25k miles. great sound/note. fit sucks! quality... mine hasnt had any pitting or rusting, but then again im in socal with 0% chance of snow

the one tip darker thing isnt a quality issue exactly. it's just the way it's gonna be since the flow of the exhaust will not exit both tips equally. i dont think there'd be anyway to make that work with a one sided exhaust
I drove an MCS equipped with an OBX and Remus; it had a reasonable sound level both inside and out, and decent tone. The Remus was more affordable a few years ago than it is today with the re-introduction.
I had two Miltek cat-backs, both with defective bends, and the one I kept, rotted prematurely, look at my attachments here https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=58761 , and there were leaks in every weld; the three Miltek headers I purchased all had defects. The sound was decent for the cat-backs, but the workmanship and materials left much to be desired, customer service was very frustrating and all shipping costs were incurred by me.
The Borla I owned was very civilized at WOT, however customer service and warranty were very poor; over 5 months to replace a defective section. The sound within the cabin was more pleasant than what others hear externally.
Quicksilver’s cat back had the most booming note and also the most breathy woosh at WOT, plus it was very light. It’s too bad I gave that one up because I have a fix for the boom now.
The OEM sound is the best of all (I’ve heard many aftermarket versions over the years), the one ball mod is good for those who like some edge to the note and it’s 20 lbs. lighter.
Here’s a fun fact about the late model Magnaflow cat back, the perforated resonator core is less than 2 inches in diameter, but the piping rearward is 2.5 inches (what’s the point of the large tubing?), so lots of drag to facilitate sound suppression.

Hey Glen, after the Topanga Canyon Run my exhaust turned all nice and gold in the inside, hmm...I guess thats what happens when you run a few canyons in a row...time to polish it out again!

that was a really fun run
my tips turn black after heavy driving, wish they turned gold

I never seen this happen, it used to turn gold after a few weeks of driving, but polishing them out always brings back a shiny chrome colored exhaust!
We need to do that run some other time super fun!
Missin' the Minspeed
mc40mini, Im glad u still like it!!!
The one ball is holding up, but i miss the loudness/tone of the Minspeed....if all works out well, i may end up buying another minspeed, hahaha.
