disconnecting rear window defroster

how do i do this? i never had a problem on my Explorer with the defroster lines on the back window, but on the MINI, it wrinkled all my tint up. i RARLY use it, but i guess when i do, it was enough to wrinkle it (only window thats wrinkled)

i just want to disconnect to when i DO use it for the few seconds that i do use it (front window), i dont damage my rear tint in the process.

is it just a wire like on my explorer (on each side of the back hatch door?)

looking at the back of the car the wire is on the left side under the rear panel of the hatch back. One of the odd things is it goes into a small box not sure what it is, maybe someone else does.
