My MINI is fairly new, and I'd like to keep it that way. So, like any new car owner, I'm parking in isolated spots to avoid door dings and such. Out Saturn has those plastic "dent proof" doors, so that's never been a problem with it, and I've found myself wishing that BMW/MINI had dome something similar. Since they didn't, I've been wondering what I can do to protect my doors from parking lot dings.

Now maybe this is silly, and maybe I'm just a little too **** about this, but has anyone considered putting the clear 3M material on their door panels. It wouldn't prevent actual dents much, but might cut down on paint chips and minor dings.

What do you think?

The leading edges of the car are probably most susceptible to rock chips so protective film makes some sense there (...although I did get a pin-head sized chip on the driver's side door the first week I had the car...none since) I don't think protective film would do squat to save us from side dings from other car doors...different type of impact. My advise...keep mastering your parking techniques...its a science in itself!
