Before the break-in I was very passive, now, whats really fun is to pull out and you can see the guys in the rearview try to pull up on your butt, but your pulling away and they can not keep up

I have more fun, pulling into and around tight spots that others only dream about, like in the parking deck at work a few spots are too small for almost all cars, but me, now I have a reserved space thats "Door, Ding, Dint Free" DDDF and loving it.

Not big on racing but I love hearing the SC scream ! Dont we all!

In my case, it never ended up in an actual race. We both turned down a relatively narrow 2-lane road, and as I followed him, I noticed a ridiculous amount of body roll as he was taking curves. If I felt I had something to prove, he wouldn't have had a chance!

 

Last night, some 17 year old kid was trying to race me in their 1991 RICED out civic sedan. Ohh man ... It was soo funny... even thou I didn't race with him ... I still had a good time playing around with that kid's stupid mind..

The kid was driving this really rusty black Civic with a BIG GTR style spolier ... its really big ... no mod what soo ever ... Stock wheel CAPS ( HAHAHAHAH ) ... some cheap side indicator lights .... it was totally a riced out CIVIC ...

So I was stopping at the intersection ( 3 lanes ) ... My girlfriend and I was in da car at the moment . This kid pulls up beside me ... stared at me and he started to revvving his CIVIC ... I was like " what da ***** ??? "
Then my girl had this great idea with playing around with his head ... so we had a short conversation ( 5 - 10 sec ) .. and we decided to do it ... I start giving him " the EYE " and I also rev my MINI too !!
Oh man ... you should of seen the look on the kid's face .. he was sooo excited .. sooo serious .....

The green light came on and the CIVIC shoots out of the crowd... I was laughing because I make him think that I was going to race with him ... Instead I just motor along at normal speed ...I reach the next red light and the kid rolled down his window and said " you chicken Sh*t .... too scared to race ?? " ... and I was like " LET'S GO THEN .. COME ON !! "
He got all excited .. reving his car .. and the same thing happened again .... I was laughing soo hard with my girlfriend ... The look on the kid is soo funny ...

and you wouldn't believe this ... but we tricked him 4 times till he finally realized that we were just playing with his stupid head ... GOd ....

At the last light .. my girlfriend jumped over to my side of the window and said to that kid: " Come on boy ... I'll race u this time ... !! "

racing ? provoke? ... is that what those guys I leave behind when the stop light changes are trying to do? .... I've never noticed them ....

 

I don't see it everyday, but it's happened. Had a Mercury Topaz the other day, which took the weakest car to ever try and race me title away from a late '80s Subaru Legacy type wagon. I have good reaction times at stop lights. I've worked on that. Of course, I play a psychological game. I generally look indifferent when challenged. Tilt my head to one side, resting on my hand. What this helps me do is see the other direction's light changing, so I know when to be ready. I've beaten cars with much better statistics that way and absolutely embarrassed some weaker cars. Of course, I don't play the game much when it's offered. I only do it up to my cruising speed (around 10% over the limit).

 

I don't race folks...but I have "run" with other MINIs on the highway or the twisties. More than a few times I've bumped into another MINI on the road, and we'll motor together through traffic or around corners, just enjoying the fact that we can each outdrive most everything else. I hunkered down on I-95 with another MINI the other day, real early in the morning, and swung pretty quick through light traffic (no crazy speeds). Then we picked up another MINI on the way, and the three of us (my MCS and two MC) spent about an hour cruising up I-95. Very fun.

Plus, between 1st gear "stumble" (you all know what I'm talking about) and a little restraint, I don't try and race. But I do like to run with the pack...

I do that all the time

On the way home from the IJ premier here in LA there was a black MC and a BRG MCS cruising down the 10 freeway. It was really cool because we'd downshift and see what each others cars could do or we'd go really fast through the turns.

Antsmini do you have a MC or MCS? If you had a MC I dont see how you'd be able to beat an integra or eclipse...unless they were very bad drivers. My cousin has a 91 integra and that car is a lot faster then my MC.

A few reasons:

1. I have an intake an exhaust on my car.

2. Their cars couldnt handle the turns as fast.

3. They couldnt manuever through traffic as well and got "stuck" a few times.

I must assume this was "lapped" traffic, right?

OK there were turns involved, thats different. If they got stuck in traffic you just got lucky. Those cars cant keep up with us in the turns unless they had a lot of suspension work done. I have an intake and ehaust too and my MC is faster but most likely not fast enough to beat a stock integra or an eclipse. I can stay with my cousins integra but he pulls on me real quick. A MCS on the other hand would beat a stock integra and non turbo eclispe or at least give it a good run.

 

I had an Aztek revving next to me at a light. I lowered
my window and said, 'Only if you've got the tent option, baby!'
Then I drove home slowly.

 

Well the traffic thing is not entirely luck...its due to the size of MINI. We can manuever past other cars easier.

 

Yeah...I only like to race when I'm in the Tek.....it's my sleeper....

No, but I get provoked to go REAL SLOW. I'm the opposite of up front aggressive. I'm totally passive aggressive. Just make me angry and I'll have to find something in my glove box right as the light changes!!!

It's so funny! You're leaning over looking through the glove box for something and the pain in the **** has to wait for me for a few seconds!!!!!

 

I love to get someone who thinks they have a hot car and that they are even hotter and bait them into doing something stupid in a section of road that I know is being patrolled. I then just smile as I drive by them as they are pulled over by the law.

On a three lane one way street, I once was challenged a guy in a small block V8 powered VW bug. I told him that he was probably very quick in a drag race, but I didn't think his car could handle. When the light changed he punched it and pulled ahead and then started swerving back and forth across lanes to demonstrate his cars cornering ability. When he saw the police officer he chopped the throttle and skidded sideways almost spinning. Needless to say he was immediately pulled over. As I drove by him I slowed and said, "Hey man, that thing real handles, it pulls over to the curb really well":D

When conditions allow, I try to drive at a brisk but not hectic pace. If I find myself having to brake really hard for turns, then I am probably pushing to hard for the road. If I go the correct pace, then I do not draw unwanted attention or provoke others and I save a lot of wear on my car. This does not mean I go slow through the turns. I love corners!

I will not go too much over the speed limit any where near cities or on the freeways. If I am going to really race, then I will take it to the track. Drive your drive and don't let others suck you into doing something stupid. If you do, I may be the one laughing at you as the police have you pulled over.

I'm surprised at you Eric! You know as well as I do the conservatism in this city. It's gotta be that. Plus the fact that straight roads are in short supply around here. They know they can't hang.

BTW, no one's messed with me either.

Thats crazy, it must of been really fast. I've heard of porsche powered VWs but a V8 bug I've seen a few V8 baja bugs in hot VWs magazine.
