R50/53 Climate Control
I recently got an '03 Cooper S. I absolutely love it! I have approximately 1000 miles on it. (Almost done with the breakin period!!!) I have the automatic climate control option. I have noticed that when the climate control is off (I have the windows down) hot air comes out from under the dashboard near near the pedals and the center consol. Has anyone else noticed this? Any suggestions? The hot air also comes out of the vents unless I turn the climate control on and push the recirculate button. I can then turn the fan all the way down, but the heat is still coming out from under the dash. It is annoying and I wanted to know if this is just the way the car is or if something is wrong with it. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Hi and welcome and congrats
Mine is the same. Just set the temp to 60 or LO then turn off the climate control and the air is cooler. It seems like the air coming out of the vents when the ACC is off is somehow a similar temperature to which the unit is set.
Hope that helps and enjoy your new baby!!!

Like OMToast said, the solution is to set the temperature to LO while on Auto, before turning off Auto. This is because the Auto setting will mix hot and AC air to regulate temperature, and when it is turned off, the water flow valves and airflow vanes remain in the last setting, and that is often one that will let hot air out of the vents.
Other than turning the Auto function off, you can also run the controls in manual mode: instead of pressing the OFF button on the Auto rocker, press the fanspeed button or any other button. The Green AUto LED will go off indicating you are in manual mode. You can now use the fan rocker to control fan speed, turn the AC on or off, direct airflow, and adjust the heat outlet by turning the temperature shuttle dial towards low (less heat), or to LO (no heat), or to HI (full heat), etc...
Cheers,
Markus

Also, if you press the button underneath the a/c button (the one that has the little snowflake-looking icon)...You can make it so that is the only one on (the green light will be on) and that will keep the air cool, without having the full ac on.
