Be careful when putting it on the steering wheel. i just picked up my brand new MINI today,
and when I put the Club on after parking, it pulled on the gray plastic around the MINI logo in the
center of the wheel, and left "stretch marks". ARG!

A word of warning to CLUB users:

I know a little something about the fear of having your MINI stolen (I live in Mexico City, remember..) Now from experiences with other cars I've learned the following:

The hardened steel material of the CLUB is really hard to saw through with a hacksaw.
The plastic of your steering wheel IS NOT.

A thief can saw through most any steering wheel in about 10 seconds, slip the club out through the slit and drive off with your MINI. If he's a nice thief he might leave your CLUB in your empty parking space for you to use in your NEXT MINI.

My advice: ditch the CLUB and get an alarm, or a big nasty Rottweiler.

Yeah...the Club isn't the most useful deterrent, but it still makes
things a little less attractive for any would-be MINI thief.
I have it more for a visual deterrent than anything else.

Maybe the rottwieller's not such a bad idea though. Wuf.

Found out the same thing, the same hard way as you. However, there's hope. After about two weeks the marks disappeared. Leave the Mini in the sun, and let the heat soften the silver trim. Worked for me.

I had a Nissan Sentra (now in posesion of my sister) that was broke into at the apts I used to live at. It happened the day I forgot to put the club on. They were dumb car theives because they tried screw drivers (from my tool box in my trunk) and a pair of cheap scissors (found bloodied and broken on floor boards). They messed up the ignition so I had to rekey the whole car. I figure the smart car theives that can really steal a car can also bybass the club.

So I put my club on only for those too stupid to know how to steal.

So far so good

Why would you need a club. My dealer says the car is impossible to hotwire. The chip in the key changes some kind of code every time you start it. Or maybe that's only for the newer models?

if someone wants to steal your car, they will. there are ways i'm sure normal people don't know about.
i don't trust anyone with my car. i have a club and the only reason i use it is cause if my car is stolen i get $2,500 from "the club" company. since insurance companies only really give you bluebook value the extra money helps!

AAHHHHH.....Now we're getting somewhere. I did not know about this policy.
I guess the club isn't quite as useless as I thought.
Good to know..
