This guy is full of youknowwhat...there is no such thing as a "turbo" MINI. Read the mod threads as to how the supercharger is enhanced for the JCW kit. The supercharger remains in place ....a pulley is added, among other mods...but no turbo.

I'd ask the guy for copies of a dyno test, to see if he's telling the truth about "224" horses....I don't think he is. Caveat emptor.....buyer beware!!

I agree, this guy has his head stuck someplace where he can't read anything. Along with the 'turbo' designation, having only 54 miles on the car wouldn't allow you to accurately determine the proper HP so he's just guessing.
All that said, you can get the car up to 210 starting with the JCW upgrade and an upgraded cold air filter (+10hp). If you wanted to go off warranty, add a nitrus set up (+15 to 20hp), an ECU another +10 to 20 and you are over the top!
But really this guy is just shooting the moon with that set up.

Look at the pictures on that Ebay listing. He has NOT upgraded the air intake. It's still an OEM airbox in there. This guy is full of it...

To clarify things, I have no plans on actually purchasing this car, I'll have a buddy of mine who lives outside the country make a $100,000,000 bid

This guy sounds a little too suspicious to me. If he posts a dyno graph written in crayon, my suspicions will be comfirmed.
Cheers,

X2BOARD - I would be very careful on EBay. I know alot of people who have lost alot of money on there. I wouldn't even think of spending that amount of money off some dodgy bloke on the net. His discription seems to have many errors and I think it has CON written all over it. If you do really want it go and see it and bring someone who knows a thing or two with you. Otherwise I would steer clear mate

The JCW kit already includes ECU tuning that is very, very nice. No aftermarket ECU is going to do any better unless you start doing agressive race programming on a stand alone, which is ludacris if the car is driven anywhere but the track. The intake could help a bit, but the best area to improve on would be the headers I suspect.

Has anyone considered that the JCW kit, while advertised as 200hp, is really more like the 224 in the ad? I have heard this from more than one source.
MINI/BMW/JCW is purposely putting out a conservative number to make sure there are no legal ramifications with putting out a number closer to the max output and then having people come back saying they are not getting that higher number.

I emailed the seller asking for explanations of the turbo, the extra horsepower, and the fact that whoever did the Works install didn't put the badges on correctly.... looks very suspicious to me. I also asked for the registry number of the works kit.

So far no reply, so I've emailed the bidders telling them to watch out.

Is probably the real deal, but the seller has zero feedback and obviously doesn't know enough to write an accurate description, so let the buyer beware.

Yes be aware. This eBay item is probably a type o. Because it would not have a reserve of 27,000 it would be way more. In order to create the parts to hook a turbo to the stock intercooler alone would be major bucks.

A project to convert a Cooper "S" to a Cooper "T" turbo, does take hundreds of hours, major relocation of required stock items, major fabrications and machine work needed to be done, so thousands of dollars and a few months later it will be done. First hand knowledge. Oops did I type that...bad fingers…sorry.

If asked would this be worth duplicating for the retail market. Well only if you had an unlimited budget and time to get it done. Then sure we can get this done for you.

Oh yeah this would not be a CARB legal application in California and the dealer warranty would no longer be valid. Sorry.

Cam, header, NOS, larger intercooler, there are a lot of ways to make that extra 24hp. I bet he is lying though...

JCW kits for the US market have no registry number like they do in the UK and the rest of Europe.

I saw this guy's ads for the three kits he had purportedly for sale previously...I emailed him several questions and never heard back.

I wouldn't put my money on the line that this guy is for real.

Good idea, and nice of you too. Hope they appreciated it. The guy has to be bogus, especially if he doesn't answer legit questions.
