I'm getting an Indi Blue/White MCS but I don't what to do the all white thing so I was thinking about body color mirrors and asked by MA and he said that he could do that or even get chrome caps. The chrome caps intrigued me especially if I could pull of a chrome grill. I don't normally like chrome but it seems to fit with the Mini.

Does anyone who have them like them, hate them? Was yours from MINIUSA or aftermarket? (I've seen them on MINI-MANIA as well. Is it a decent quality appearance? I had a chrome fuel cap on my Miata (the round aircraft style) that peeled when the wrong cleaning solution got on it.

I did the chrome mirror caps and grill on my DS/DS. I think it dresses the car up a bit and accents the rest of the chrome trim better. I think the chrome looks the best on the Indi Blue. I had the dealer put on OEM chrome caps but did my own grill and lower strip. If you do the caps yourself be careful not to break the little tabs that hold them on the mirror in case you ever want the put them back on or sell them. If I have time later on I'll post a picture.

 

One of my first mods were the MINI chrome mirror caps. Got them from my local MINI parts dept. at a lower price than other vendors. Fits real nice and installs using OEM tabs and not adhesives like the aftermarket ones.

Do search on the int./ext. mods forum and you'll find the install. I was one of the lucky ones and didn't break any tabs. I get many compliments....I think I have the only MC on Hawaii with chrome mirror caps

Looks great, Dan. Thanks. I'm just glad to hear that you you're satisfied with the quality. I was afraid the feedback would be that they were low quality, not up to expectations, etc. I dropped my white wheels and went with silver wheels. Now I guess I just need to get a chrome grill.

I got the chrome mirror caps (dealer installed) on my 2003 Jet Black MINI and they look super -- they balance out the all-chrome grill nicely. They'll look brilliant on your Indi Blue, you should go for it. You can always remove them and replace with another color at any time if you don't like them or just want a change.

What would help would be if you lived somewhere with sunshine to really show it off.

Nice! I think Mini was on to something with the chrome grill and the crhome mirrors seem to go well with that. The last car I remember owning with chrome mirrors was a 1972 Opel GT.

There is a "how to" in the Interior/Exterior mod forum. I added to it with a pic of the tool used to remove the original black caps. Good Luck!
