Weird electrical buzz sound

I own a 2005 MCC, and when I don't have the radio on, I hear a weird buzz that goes off and on while driving. Is this normal? It's not that loud, but noticeable. Anyone else have this happening?

Don't want to take NEMO 3 hours south to have him looked at if they just tell me they can't do anything for it.

Thanks guys!

it's normal. Mine does that too. it's the AC when it's on auto. there is a little fan that spins to pull air into a sensor. as it gets older it gets noisier.

It's coming from behind the dash somewhere... hard to explain

Even if it was the electrical power steering, is that normal?

if it's the electrical power steering then yes it's normal. It's kinda a higher pitched 'mzzzzz' sound. You can hear it after you turn off the car sometimes too.

Mine used to "rattle" behind the dash (but not really "buzz"). This was caused by a mishapen heat shield which Mini fixed under warrenty. I thought it sounded like a pen cap that fell into a vent or something.

mine makes a high pitched buzzing/whirring noise.
dunno if it's cause i installed the piezo buzzer in the trunk. but it's really hard to tell if it's coming from the front or the back of the car.
i can live with it. but at first it was really annoying. hah
