7 1/2 years

My original battery was replaced under warranty in my 2005 mcs after 2 years. The replacement just gave up the ghost- 7 1/2 years.

finally replaced mine this Friday. after 3 jumps this year, I was getting tired of it. cause I cant see it be warmer for another month. but not bad, 10 years for a battery? also when I replaced it had less than 80 amps of juice after driving to the place. replaced it with a group 47 Duracell 660 cca

replacement battery

just in case any one wants to know, I replaced mine with an Autozone Duralast Platinium 78dt agm. The terminals are on the correct sides at top: L- R+ (although you have to turn the battery up side down), has side terminal connections as well, and are even a little closer to the edge to the battery for more room for the cables.
It's one of those gell batteries. 750cca 120 reserve minutes. Fits fine. A leading consumer's magazine really liked the quality of this battery in this size. And the warranty is 3 years free replacement then prorated for 2 years after that.

newish owner = new battery

I just picked up a 2005 R53S in November of 2014 and within a week had to replace the battery. It had the Mini Logo and so I am under the assumption it was the OE, so if my maths are correct, that would be about 9 years on that battery. I think that's more than good from other auto batteries I've dealt with. I went to NAPA for the replacement because they were the only local auto parts shop that had an 84 month warranty battery for the same price as Autozone/Oreilly's/CarQuest... who carry only 24 month batteries...

I have a very early 2006 R53 MCS, build date of Oct, 2005, and am still running the original battery. It is showing signs of it's demise with the extreme cold weather that we have been having of late.

It is my understanding that the OEM battery is made by Douglas. Is there anyone out there that can confirm this? I would like to replace this one with whatever the original one is.

The first one 8 years (Mini 2002) and it wasn't necessary, just being cautious.

Just replaced the oe battery today after 9 years. Again as previously mentioned to be on the safe side. It was starting to struggle on the first start of the day. Purchased an Everstart Maxx H5 from Walmart. Good price and good warranty. Fits perfectly including the vent. FYI-I put a trickle on the charge point in the engine bay before changing the battery and didn't lose any presets.

I just picked up an 05 R53, still had the oem battery with 2/05 date on it, changed it because it was reading black in the window and was sluggish in starting. 10 years

2005 MCSa here. The one from the manufacture lasted until 2010... The second battery lasted until 2015. So 5 years which is average.

If I'm not mistaken, for the U.S. market, DEKA licensed Douglas Battery here in Winston-Salem to make the batteries. Douglas was bought by East Penn a few years back. East Penn makes the DURACELL batteries now sold by Sam's Club.

Ours, in an early '04 Cooper has just bitten the bullet. 11.5 years! No complaints except the wife could not drive her favorite car to work today.

Unless they changed suppliers, gen1s used to have EXIDE batt as OE.

Still Exide in the 2011 MCS's. Im actually looking for something to replace mine. Last winter it was acting up. Want to change it before it gets really cold.
Anyone change their '11 MCS with something that fits?

The OEM battery in my 2012 died instantly after three years. No indication of problems prior to failure, then absolutely nothin'. Had to be towed.
