I love my MINI because the super hot chick with the dachshund has been making much more frequent trips across my driveway since she saw it.

Whenever we travelled in the numerous cars we have owned throughout the years, we "drove". In our MCS, we "motor." For this Mini lover it's the journey not the destination. Our Mini makes that journey as no other car has.

Abso-freakin-lutely! To me the best way to know that I made the right decision is that I, three years and a handful of months after Chralie was delivered, still love -looking- at my car.

Nevermind when I get to drive him and the many that gives me.

If you want a super fast car that handles great go buy a Subaru STi. You can usually pick a used one up for about $26k and a new one will run you about $35k - $40k. 0-60 in about 4.5sec and pulls close to .9 Gs on the skid out of the box. But don't expect it to be near as fun as the MINI or even close to as unique. To me their is nothing compares to a MINI because of its phenomenal go-kart handling and tiny size. The STi's ride is rough, it accelerates violently, and is just plain scary around turns. Good luck with your search. As for me I'm in it for the fun and am not interested in getting into automotive pissing contests (there too expensive!).

Love our two Minis to the max !

We've two...an 05 R50 coupe...black on black, and an 06 cabrio...hot orange with all the bells and whistles. I dumped a Volvo XC90 to get one, and a Dodge Rumble Bee to get the other. Gas savings every month makes me fall in love all over again !!! The little things just draw emotions and memories to the surface for all of us, and that would be worthwhile too. Final draw for me...Being 6 ft. 8 in tall, I love the looks from people as I fold in or out of my Mini. Always starts a conversation about their size, safety, ride, etc. Easy discussions to hold.

Sweet! I love mine because it always puts a smile on face. That and I like to think that girls like it as much as I do.

It's an early Monday evening, I've been a good patient worker all day. As I approach my off-ramp, it is time to become something else for a couple of golden moments. After slogging through traffic for the last 40 minutes during rush hour on the 405 South at an average of 25-30 mph, now all I have to do is get into the freeway exit lane.

I accelerate up the straight portion of the ramp to 70+. At WOT the supercharger is screaming and the Milltek is roaring. Wait, wait, NOW brake hard, down-shift smoothly to third, turn in to the right-hand 90, feel the g's and hear and feel the tires grip through my steering wheel as I drive into the apex. Feel transition and get on the gas, using the whole width of the ramp. Accelerate to screaming again down the hill for about 200 yards to the very top end of third gear. Wait, wait, and brake hard again, down-shifting to second for the 180-degree right-hander and get to WOT briefly one more time for a split second. I'm back onto a tame city boulevard, feeling envigorated and spirited once more, but returned to my "normal" self.

And almost all off- and on-ramps present such golden opportunities.

Life IS GOOD in my MINI!!

1. fun to drive
2. fast
3. very solid auto
4. small size

Now for a lesson: Think you are fast? Go racing. You will find out how fast you are not. There are always drivers that are better than you. In my case it was riders, as in motorcycles.

Yes but wasn't your GF mad about the other girl in your car.

I think if I were looking for both strait line speed and windy road moxie I'd get a used Lotus Elise which can be found mid 35K. You would however, sacrifice almost all creature comforts and you couldn't ride with your GF and that other girl in the car.

I'm hoping to keep my now irreplacable '06 MINI for a long time.

I have a 2001 S4 (biturbo) and a motorcycle - check out my gallery. The S4 will be up for sale soon. For me, motor fun is inversely correlated with weight. The bike is the most fun, the MINI next, then the S4. The S4 is faster (0-60 in 5.5sec), smoother and more refined... but it needs open road to use properly. The problem with open road, at least around where I live, is that it just attracts traffic and cops.

I know hundreds of miles tight technical twisty backroads (posted in the 25-40mph range) from the motorcycle and the MINI is nearly as much fun on them. The S4 is simply to heavy and the power tends to be meaningless in the tight stuff.

The MINI is as close to a 4 wheel motorcycle as I've been able to find so far, and still be able to carry my family of 4.

Here's someone that thinks so too, and lives in my town... CLICKY

I think snapper's sig says a lot about MINI appeal in a really small space:
"It's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow.

"MINI - Appeals to Everyone: A poor man's bargin, A rich man's toy, A chick's accessory, and an enthusiast's tool"

Well said, Snapper!!
