Why I love my MINI:
- It is so damned adorable.
- Fond memories, it brings me back when I was a child in the Philippines,my
uncle had one, everytime he starts that baby all the kids (me and my 6
cousins) piled up in the back.Tight for sure (: not to mention
we were very hot,but nonetheless,we loved it!
- The car has personality.
- Quick acceleration and good handling.
- Makes me happy when I drive it.
- Its people-friendly.

As alluded to earlier, there is always something faster... If your ego hangs in precious balance by whether or not the person next to you can beat you in a 1/4 mile, then the Mini probably isn't really for you. As mentioned all throughout this thread, the joys of ownership can be measured in many ways besides straightline speed. You need to determine what your needs are when it comes to a vehicle, and then find one that best matches those criteria.
Of course, you can always modify your MCS for some more HP as well, and that can help keep you ahead of more cars in the stoplight grand prixs that we occassionally encounter.

If running faster than the next guy is what turns you on than I don't think the MINI is what you need. I have an old Corvette that would make my MINI look bad in a stright line, but my MINI is a lot more fun to drive and would out corner the vette on some twistys any time. It's got to be the most fun car I've ever had and I love it!!
Who said it wasn't a Chevy? I was just correcting your incorrect corrections of my post.
For the record, I like both the new Corvette and my '03
MC.

Why we love our MINI?
Wow - what's the meaning of life in twenty-five words or less would be easier

- It's the fastest street legal go-kart I've ever driven.
- It's still a unique little beast - I know there are thousands on the road but in the grand scheme of things it still turns heads (including mine and wife's)
- It makes me smile every time I see it.
- Once I get behind the wheel I feel good.
- My wife and I have an absolute blast on weekend trips.
- It converted my wife into a true auto fanatic.
- I love the look on the other driver's face when I pass it on a two lane country road.
- Waving to other MINI drivers.
- The MINI community. Case in point - I took our MCSa to MINI of Sterling for its regularly scheduled check up. While at the dealership, which is also a BMW dealer, there were about six other MINI owners talking about their rides. Not a single BMW owner was enjoying that experience.

Reading all these testimonials about why people love their Minis just makes me even more anxious to get my own. It arrives in CA today, then a week + before I get to give it a big hug. I'm going crazy with the wait.
Never before named a car. Never thought about what to use to wash it. Never thought about what music to play when I first drive it. In so many ways, the Mini is just...different.
In my recent journeys through the US heartland, I saw lots of spiffy old Chevys, Buicks, etc on the road. Can't help but admire that US steel..........
Happy Motoring! Pics!!
Thank You everyone for their kind replys. I agree with all of you.
I have always dreamed of getting a mini and I have loved it since I bought it 2 months ago, I guess I just will always want to go faster than I do!
But, i have always had the same type of engines pretty much,
An audi 2.8, audi 1.8T, vw 1.8T, and now the mini cooper S!
So I spent all weekend driving it around and I absolutely relised why I love my Mini! Its so dang cute. I as well stare at my car for a good while whenever I get out of it! the center speedometer and rpm gauge in front of me is amazing, the interior is comfy, the suspension and handling is amazing, the ride is so smooth. its quite light and fast enough! maybe an intake to come heh.
Anyways, I went to barnes and nobles and bought this motoring book!

It has excellent history and pictures, very entertaining and well put together pice of literature. I suggest you pick it up!
Also my girlfriend took a few pics of my Cooper throughout the weekend!
I would never find any other car like a Mini and I Love it!

Also, Last weekend at carcraft nats! There was a Mini Turbo Classic!
I always dream of having a RHD mini.

I think im going to post a seperate thread for these pics!

My first car was a 1959 Morris Mini Minor. I learned to drive a stick with it and fell in love with its agility. Unfortunately, I had to sell it, as I was unable to keep up with the repair bills in the 1960s. I have never forgotten the sheer fun of that car as I went thru the next years. When I retired and saw a "new" MINI MC, I HAD to get it and my love affair with that "cute little cheesebox on wheels" was reborn. Yeah, it's bigger than the classic I once had, but then, so am I. It's been a great tradeoff, because now I've been able to REALLY enjoy driving again! In fact, I love my MC so much that I went and bought an MCS last year...to keep it company! I mostly show my MC now as the MCS is my daily driver/"go" car. I guess at my age I could buy about any car out there, but, MINI is the car for me. Never will I be without one again!
A decent used Viper RT/10 can be had for around $30k. Now there's a fast car that you won't likely see in your neighbor's drive way! The new Vettes are sweet, too!
But I love my MINI for the way it handles. The car just feels so nimble and tossable. I don't think many cars out there feel the same to drive as the MINI does.

From your link:
The $45,170 base price is up just slightly from last year.
The 58K example is loaded with a bunch of stuff that does nothing for it's performance.
'08 Vette from Car and Driver and Motor Trend:
Page 102 Sept. 07 Car and Driver, "The new Vette runs 0-60 in 4 seconds." From Sept. 07 Motor Trend page 60, "This approach, (feathering the throttle), paid off with a blistering 4.1 second dash to 60 mph, en route to a 12.5 115 mph quarter mile."
As I said, for a base price of $45,000 the 08 Corvette is a performance bargain.

That classic Mini in the pics made me drool.
I have a nice view of my MC from my office. I catch myself staring at it often. I've never felt this way about a car in my life. I always appreciated nice cars and the engineering that goes into them, however I didn't obssess over any of them. There are cars I've been interested in and I've had the "some day I'd like to own one of those" thoughts, but it's different with the MINI. After I test drove one, I HAD to have one and I would not stop until I succeeded. Now, I have a vehicle that I feel is an extension of myself. I love everything about it. Mine is not an "S", but it's plenty quick. It also has style and handling like no other car on the road. In short, I love it.

Why do I love my MINI?
I was approached by an elderly man in a parking lot recently. He lives half the year in Europe and half the year in the US. He summed it up when he said how much he loves the MINI. It hasn't been "Americanized", it's still very European. He is right. This is one of the most unique cars on the road. I look around me when I'm driving and see BMWs, Vets, Audis. Anyone can own one of those cars. You HAVE to have a personallity to match your car. I am definately a European MINI type person. I love her...she makes me smile and I make new friends everyday when people coment on how wonderful these cars are. I could own a Ferrari and pay a boat load more money and not get any better feeling when driving. That's just me. The last really fun car I had was a 1969 GTO and I have way more fun with 'Rita my 07 MCC Chili Red cuties (sorry guys...she's cute). Luv her, luv her, luv her....
but seriously, you need to drive the dragon! then you'll know for sure. . . the connection will be indescribable!

Cool! Last sunday I went to a muscle car show sponsered by the old school gto club, it was great. 60s/70s gtos and othe rmuscle cars including my favs, mopar!. fun fun! : )
Like nothing else on the road...
The MINI is still unique - I get waves and comments about Junior almost everywhere I go. This is a car that just makes people smile.
And he's surprisingly quick, and amazing through the twisties.
Granted, there are other cars that are faster, but none of them have the combination of style, performance and *presence* of the MINI (not unless you're spending somewhere north of $80k).
And... I have yet to be embarrassed on the road - the local roads do not allow for much more than ludicrous speed, so the faster cars don't have an opportunity to really wind up... In this environment, the MINI just shines...

Mopars...
I went to school with a guy named Terry Ulmer. He is a HUGE Mopar fan. Used to have his website but I can't find it now??

Who cares.
