Heatshield patch?

I installed a trailer hitch on my MC a few months back. To do the install I had to cut away some of the heat shield around the muffler to get to the chasis. Now I'm getting rid of the MC for an R56 so I sold the hitch. Does anyone know what I can use to cover the hole up now? Where to get it?

I put on some metallic tape that my dad uses for HVAC work for the moment, but I'm not sure if there's something better I should be using. Suggestions?

lol..actually I graduated last year. I'll still be at a Loyola parking lot, but you'll have to come to maywood to see it.

Ah, a med student. Cool, well congrats on the new MCS and you should come out to some club events. Good luck fixing the heat shield.

Just my luck, I stopped by a 24 hour autozone this morning to see if they have anything, but they were closed for floor cleaning.

Before I go again does anyone know if they have something I can use or where I can get something I can use?

I'd suggest heading to a salvage yard, cutting out a piece of heat shield material (same stuff you've got, many cars use that somewhere near the exhaust and it cuts with tin snips) and pop-riveting it in place. Total cost should round to zero if you know someone with a pop-rivet gun, and if you shape the patch right it'll look stock.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've never been to a junkyard before. I got quoted on a new shield and it was quite expensive, so that's not an option. Is there anything else I can use that I can find locally, maybe at Home depot or something? Otherwise I guess it's a trip to the junkyard.

http://www.thermotec.com/products/full/full.html

I've used some of their products (purchase through either Jegs or Summit) on other cars to help insulate or thermal protect areas of my engine bay. You can sometimes find similar stuff at PepBoys/AutoZone/Murrays, etc...
