Debugging a new generation (How Long?)

I would like to buy a MC after they get most of the bugs worked out.

How long did that take with the R50 and R53?

The 05 and 06 MCS models are pretty solid. I would probably say that next year will be very safe. I know a lot of happy 07 owners.

My 03 MCS had a lot of electrical troubles. But I was treated well and the trade in price was great.

Our 06 MCS is trouble free. That's just my experience, but I have to believe they improve a model as it goes through it's life cycle.

regards,
Red

06 should be mainly problem free. well not totally problem free. but compared to older models it is. (but then again this is my first mini)
and 07's might be almost like an 02. (when the newer mini's came out)
the 07's use a different engine tho. that i know. but you can almost never have a car that's 100% problem free.
enjoy your mini!! whichever year you get.

My '02 has been a disaster. Things certainly got better by the '06s. The 2010s should be ok.

The new BMW 335i turbo has already been debug by Turner Motorsports. Their chip alone adds extra 35 hp and 33 tq. I wonder what's taking the R56 too long but I think there is a big potential for the R56 being DOHC, Vanos, more free-revving and turbo.

A lot of the vendors are already getting tuning ready for the R56 if this is what you are referring too. The car really just came out and the tuners have to acquire one before they can do anything with it. Time and money...

I think that the above posts were talking about the entire car, not just tuning.

My 03 has been problem free. If I wanted an 07 I'd just buy it and not worry. It's got a warranty, and I seriously doubt there will be so many problems that you shouldn't be enjoying it....now.
