M7 product questions...opinions needed, too!

I'm looking at the M7 catalog that was in the MOTD goodie bag and I have a few questions:

(p7) Aerogel Heat Shield $99--is this only for use with intercoolers? What/where would it be used on an MC?

(p8) Air Plate Diverter $149--is this only for MCS as shown in the pic? I have a DDM CAI and I was wondering if this would be a good addition if it fits an MC.

(p9) 180-degree thermostat $44--how easy is it to install this on an MC?

I know there's another Aerogel Heat Shield available for $149 (I think that's the price) and it's larger than the $99 version. Is it MCS specific or can it be installed on an MC?

I look forward to reading the answers to the questions and opinions/comments/reviews.

Thanks!

Did you try to call or email Peter at M7? He is very responsive to questions.

Being in a MC you are probably better off throwing your money at the suspension. None of those parts will give you any more oomph.

P.S. I am sure someone will be along shortly to correct me.

Aerogel Heat Shield $99, Don't need it.
Air Plate Diverter $149. This is a great MOD for both MC and MCS. Is your car 5 speed or CVT, It will fit on both but its much easier install on a 5 speed. The Trans cooler gets in the way alittle bit on the CVT but it will fit.
180-degree thermostat,Don't need it
I know there's another Aerogel Heat Shield available for $149, This one goes right above the header, (Different location than the one for $99) You could use it but its not as important on the MC as it is on the MCS. Because you don't have a lot of the heat problems we have.

As others have said Suspensions is where you can make the biggest different on the MC.

hope this helps. I'm sure someone from M7 will come by and tell you differently.

I think M7 products are great.... but I fully agree with what has been said above.

Work on your suspension... and very importantly... your driving. Do some driving schools. You aren't going to get much more HP out of an MC, so offset that with skill.

I'm not looking to gain HP.

I'm wanting to be proactive and reduce heat in the engine bay which shortens the life of the hoses, etc.

I have all the M7 parts in stock including the APD's. They really aren't Hp mods but can help with cooling. Give us a call if you have more questions.

M7 Mods

I have both of those products in an 05 MC they work as they are supposed to by improving the air flow and restricting the flow of heat. I installed both the air diverter and the gel blanket which sits just above the exhaust manifold and I noticed a drop in engine compartment temps. If you have any concerns call Peter at M7 he's a good guy and will not try and sell you something that will be useless.

For an unbiased opinion from a vendor selling the parts?
