10,000 mile service at 9,600 ???

Going on a 2 week trip next month and I'll have around 9600 miles on my 2006 MCC before we leave. The trip will put well over 600 miles on the car ....... will the dealer do the 10K service before I leave on the trip (in other words, before I hit the 10K milestone?) ?

What does the countdown timer say on your speedo when you start the car? That tells you how many miles to the next service - which most likely is not exactly 10K miles anyway (mine ended up at about 11K).

That's what happened to us, and our dealer wouldn't touch anything until it either was within 100 miles of the countdown timer or 1 yr

It seems odd to say but the car will tell you when it's time. The 10K is just title now as the actual mileage varies on the use of the car. Long trips aren't hard on engines so that might actually increase the time to service.

The car was delivered in February 2006 ... this puts it at almost 18 months old ... would this make a difference?

Nope. My car had 100 miles till the counter said I needed service and they said bring it back. I made the appointment. 50 miles home and 50 miles back.

Be SURE that you tell them to change:

Wiper Blades -- They did not do mine.
Cabin Filter -- Don't think that they did mine.

No 1 year service?

Your entitled to a simpler service (oil change + filters, I think) every year. It's the BIG ONE that they wait until you are within 100 mi of the service indication mileage.

I would think this may vary by dealer. Worth a quick call to your service center and ask them.

I would certainly hope so. As someone said, you get service at one year..or at the required mileage, whichever comes first. I got my first service at about 3,000 miles, second at 6,000 and third at 9,000. Should be absolutely no problem to get your service NOW!!! Actually, you should have gotten it six months ago.

I was in the same boat when I was coming up to my 10,000 mile service. Called the dealer & they told me as long as I was within 1,000 miles on the counter they'd do it. Give the dealer a call.

As resmini said, the interval is by mileage or every year. Go get it done and motor happily.
Have a great trip!

Same with my dealer. They said to bring it in once the service readout displayed dropped below 1,000 miles.

P&W (Pittsburgh) said anything within 500 miles of the service interval indicator was fair game. No problem getting mine done at 9600 or so. They changed everything AND gave me a nice blue MC loaner for the day! Was great to drive the MC and MCS back to back as a comparo, I'm actually looking forward to going there again and maybe driving the '07 MC.

oooo... i need to call about this one. i had to schedule service because i am pulling to the left and have a wheel shake and i haven't had my first service yet... when i called they couldn't get me in for over 20 days..

i told them that i needed my first service at that time too because if i have to schedule ANOTHER service after that i will be way over... i doubt i will be within 100 when i go in... time to call to make sure!

i have to say, i absolutely love my mini, but not so impressed with having to drive oscar around with an obvious problem for the next 20 days until they could schedule me for service... boo. :(

My dealership didn't make any comment and I had 800 miles to go on the service indicator. I was at 10,400 when I went for service. I did notice that when I got the car back, the miles until service showed 15,800. I guess that's their way of getting back at me for being a little under. I also got a nice blue MC (manual) loaner for the day.

Per my service department here in TX they wouldn't do the service until the counter was at 0 or negitive as a directive passed down to them.
