How much should I list MINITOR for on Ebay - opinions wanted

The title says it all. I'm going to throw MINITOR to the wolves on Ebay sometime soon, but really can't decide how much to list it for, and if I should do a reserve and list it low, or no reserve and list it more realistically. Please give price opinions and strategies. I do want any advice and will stay out of the thread unless a question is asked for me to answer, so thank you in advance. For a description, click on my Cardomain link in my sig.

I still can't believe there were no takers on NAM for this great car.

imo 20k. Aftermarket work doesn't really command any value. For you to get value out of the stuff that was added on you need to find a buyer that will find that as important as you do. Chances of that are slim. I'd say look for a young buyer that has their parents wallet in hand.

If you have the reserve really set to what you think it's worth, you'll depend on finding a bidder that agrees. You'll really only get what the pool of buyers is willing to pay. So if you really want it to sell, you'll have to be ready to accept less, and hope for more. Otherwise you'll just end up paying listing fees based on your reserve, it won't sell, and you'll be even further behind.

So my suggestion is if you really want/need to sell, set the starting at 10k or something, no reserve, and take what comes. That way you might fire up more interest, get people really bidding, and will sell it. You'll probably end up with more in the end than trying 2 or 3 cycles of not selling.

Just my $.02.

I hardly ever see MINIs hit reserve on ebay, modified or not. I think it is a combination of the reserves being slightly too high and people do not seem to want to pay a reasonable amount for a MINI. So, if I were you, set a reserves that will get you the absolute bare minimum that you can take for the car. If you set a higher reserve, chances are it will not sell. But I would not put it up on ebay without a reserve because I think you will be sorely dissapointed.

+1
If you looked at completed transactions for MINIs, the vast majority do not sell. As stated, a lot of times the reserve is too high (a lot of the cars are listed by dealers who are just hoping for a good sale), but a lot of the final bids on the cars are WAY lower than what any of us would consider fair market.
So, be willing to set a 'low' reserve (the bare minimum), but DO NOT list without a reserve . . . or you will end up with a winning bid way below market value.

Thanks, I have a question for you all. For example, lets say 18k was the lowest that I wanted to go and I wanted to ensure that it did not go under that. Do you think it is better to put the starting bid then around 18k and no reserve, or to put a lower starting bid and a reserve at around 18k?

I say no reserve with a 10 day auction starting at 20k with a buy-it-now at something you would reasonably take. Then promote the car everywhere you can for the highest amount of attention, no doubt this wont be a problem with your cars appeal. Also, I would have direct link to a few highly rated 'car shippers' or whatever. Thatll ease a few into figuring that into the purchase price and may even attract an international bid or two. Definately get a minimun amount of $$ delivered soon after the auction. There is a lot to be learned from that 10 mill GeneralLee ebay auction.

First, IMO, go to galves.com and find out what its really worth. You only mention leather. It came out to $17.7 full retail. $15.3 tradein. Then again, those guidelines are pretty worthless. galves should tell you what its really worth at auction.

You had the horns, right? All the mods ... sorry worthless. But the HORNS!!! They might be worth something

Strategy, dont play games. List at what you want to sell it for and let them start there. IMO, be realistic. Check the actual MINI sales figures for comparables.

Best of LUCK!

Its not a huge problem for me because I owe less on it than it will sell for, so in my mind the difference will make up for the mods.

When you put it up, I'm sure I will stumble across it anyway because I've been scouring ebay for MCSs, but if you wouldn't mind posting a link to the auction I would like to watch it.

Thanks

Will do. Or you could just buy it now and not have to worry about the competition.

Is that an amp in the back?

Are there no backseats?

Yes, it is a sub with 2 10" JL's and amp, in place of the backseat that I had never used. I still have the backseat though, in perfect unused condition.
