Very nice! Makes me want mine even more! I am getting an IB/W as well. I opted for the MC route though.

I think a lot of people will be intrested to know if you experience any hesitation problems.

Have you priced pulley upgrades yet!!!

I've been looking at intakes and don't even have the car yet! I haven't even driven a Cooper yet!

Thanks to everyone for the nice words. It's funny how much it means to you when you get your car.

I'm glad to see more people are getting their calls to go pickup their cars.

As for the pulley, I have definitely considered it. My dealer (Sterling, VA) offers a wide variety of performance packages with their biggest including an ecu, intake, pulley, ignition wires, exhaust and header about 220 hp they claim and will support the warranty at their dealership despite the add-ons.

I wanted to get a feel for how the power feels on the MCS stock and while I've not made it out of the break in period yet, I would say that it has plenty of power.

There's alot of attention and passion on here for the add-ons, but I think it's important for everyone to get a chance to spend some time with their car to see what they really want. I know while I was waiting, I wanted everything that popped up on the performance modifications forum.

Any word from Laurie yet? I hope your Mini has made it home.

Hi Teldon - Monty is home!!! Thanks for asking.

Hobbes is a very handsome fellow indeed! Sounds like you have really been getting around. That's what I plan to do this weekend and then next weekend we head for Georgia again. Going to put some nice mileage on the little guy. The only thing that bothers me is that Monty is dirty already. We had a hellacious storm right after we picked him up and a lot of road dust stuck to his finish. I am ordering the Zaino starter kit and hope to be able to get at least one coat on him this weekend. I don't want to do too much because I have to get his stripes on him first.

I have been taking pics but we use a 35MM and slide film so I have to have a CD made when we get them developed.

It sounds like most of the August group either have their cars or are picking them up within the next couple of days. Hooray for us!!!

I'm waiting on my stripes but after the initial sortie Hobbes was a dusty mess and I had to run down to the local car wash station with bucket, glove and mother's wash in hand (don't panic, anyone! I wouldn't do that to my Mini).

I had the same storm last nite and caught a little dirty splash marks on my driver's side door. Hopefully, I'll get a free bath when the dealer puts the stripes on before the weekends (another hopefully).

Glad you got Monty home. I probably missed your post, but I've not been on here as much since the Mini showed up -- well and losing power for most of last nite.

The day finally came! I got my MINI! What a hoot. The car is absolutely perfect. No flaws and no rattles. The AC blows cold as ice.

This car is as solid as a rock. I don't know about other owners and their problems, MINI must of got their act straight. This car is a steal for 20k. I love the interior at night.

More on the AC... Charleston SC, heatwave, 98 degrees, high humidty, sun roof screen open and me cool as a cucumber! It does suck the power though doesn't it!! I am so glad I got the sun roof. I love it! Very heavy, i know. But worth it!

Here are some pics:

RCase - Great looking MINI. I like the little one, too. I'm going to get one for my Grandson in a couple of months - he's only 6 months old now so not quite ready for it.

I'm like you, no rattles, AC blowing cold, and LOVE the look of the dash when the lights are on.

I was wiping Monty down after a quick pre-wash at a touchless carwash yesterday and a man with an old Buick came up and asked me about the MINI. Of course, I gave rave reviews. He really liked it and said it was a good looking car .

Then, when I went home and gave Monty his first REAL bath, lots of the neighbors were coming home from work and stopped to chat and pay compliments. They all really liked him. A couple of the men called him beautiful!!! Some of the kids in the neighborhood are already waving when I drive past. I'm such a proud MINI Mommy. Can't wait to get those pics developed.

One year later...

So many of our cars are one year or *almost* one year old. How are they holding up?

Ours has 9,000 miles on it (her?), having been my wife's car for the past year. We just got her a new Volvo Cross Country and so the Mini is now mine and I expect the miles to start piling up as I commute 52 miles round trip each day. So far the car has been pretty good. We had the infamous Yo-yo for a while, but the latest software update seems to have taken care of it. Also there was some rubbing of the back deck on the wiper housing which was also taken care of.

New Country Mini in Hartford, CT has been pretty darn good to deal with. I must say I really like having a car in warranty.

Love to hear from anyone else in the August 2003 club.
