R50/53 The Can't Wait for August Club!
>>Congratulations Teldon! I know you've been waiting patiently along with me. Mine was on the boat along with your MINI, and I'm still waiting for the call...
Thanks. Hopefully the trucks were heading out yesterday and making deliveries over the next couple of days. My order went in on March 1 so it has been a long wait. I hope they get it all ready to go by Friday. I can't make it another weekend.

>>Congratulations Teldon!!! You're further south than I am but mine's still not in. GRRRRRRRR! My MA keeps assuring me I'm not being a pest
Wonder what he's saying under his breath. hehehe!

Go ahead and pester them. It's the easiest sale job in the world. People line up to buy their cars. This is the part of the job where they actually work. I got a call the moment the trucks came in and I've been talking to them today and I'm scheduled to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. So I should have my Mini and still have time to get home and watch the Steelers with a little motoring in rushhour traffic on the Springfield Parkway.. something tells me keeping it under 40000 rpm will not be a problem.
Just curious, when did you put your order in? I had a friend in Pittsburgh who must have set a record. She went from order to pickup in around five weeks.

My girlfriend's MINI is here at work. I spoke with the manager of the Prep Stations and he said he would track it down and let me come sit in it today before it left for the dealership. I'm so excited. I'm going to get some pictures of it in the prep bay so I can make her a special poster to hang in the garage.
I need to start a Can't Wait for Monday thread!

I ordered mine the first week in July so I really can't complain. They told me about 6 weeks and that's what it's going to be. If I don't get it tomorrow I have to wait until Tuesday. The manager told me even if it comes in tomorrow he will put a rush on it so I can pick it up tomorrow evening. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If it doesn't come in guess who will be at the dealership on Sunday afternoon after a 9.5 hour drive from Augusta, GA - just standing there looking at my pretty little car. <sob> Hubby might just have to get sick during evening shift on Monday so we can go get Monty.
I know he's going to be lonely sitting in that big lot surrounded by his Bimmer cousins. I don't want him to develop an inferiority complex when he sees all their high priced stickers.

I finally got the news today.... My car is in. He said he said to give him a coulpe of hours to get it detailed and cleaned up and I can pick it up. The wait is over..... Thanks everyone for all the advice.
Hello all-
I've been a lurker, but I'm also in the "August Club". My BRG/W MC came over on the Tokyo Highway that docked in NY/NJ/wherever on the 12th. The Owner's Lounge gave me an estimated delivery date of 8/14, but that's come and gone and I still haven't heard anything about it being in. I've been sending polite, nagging emails to my MA, but she hasn't been able to provide me with any info about a new delivery date since letting me know that it was in port.
I'm picking mine up from Keeler MINI in Latham, NY (near Albany). Has anyone else in that general area taken delivery yet or heard anything about delivery times?
Thanks!

I had an 8/14 delivery date estimated as well. It came the following Tuesday. It's been in VPC for about week now and they seem to getting them so it shouldn't be much longer. Hope you get it for the weekend.

I originally had an 8/15 delivery date, then an 8/18 delivery date. Now it has been changed to 8/21! If this gets changed again, I will become increasingly suspicious of the MINI delivery truck drivers travel activities.
Well, the on the upside, I talked to my MA, and he advised me that he would be able to turn the car around in a day if it gets in tomorrow. Maybe I'll be motoring on Friday?

Hello,
My Mini was also on the TH and was to be at port in Charleston on the 15th. The MiniUSA website still says "enroute". The website for the cargo tracking says that it WAS discharged on the 15th! I just spoke to my MA and he informed me that a large group of cars was "put off" until the 20th for the port date..I have no idea what is going on. I don't understand how a shipping company with the VIN numbers can be wrong about the cargo. I also don't understand how you can "put off" the unloading of a group of cars for 5 days! I'm so confused..

>>I posted too soon! I just got an email from my MA. My car is in and I'll be picking it up on Friday at 11am!
LOL!!! Congrats to you! I guess your car was not in the "group" of cars that my MA says mine was in!

My estimated delivery date on the owner's lounge was and still is 8/13, and the car hasn't even been released to the carrier from the VDC yet, according to my dealer. I'm sure the MCS will be great, but I'm also sure that I'll never order another car this way again. Too much pain these last 8+ weeks!

Woulda, coulda, shouldas...? Probably ordered from Richmond in March and I would have had my car by May. Of course, I wouldn't have had the chance to drive my Miata one last summer. That's why I eventually took the slowboat approach with Sterling. That and there was about $450 separating them on dealer-add ons.

My MINI hit Charleston on the 15th also. My MA said he wouldnt be getting the car until Monday the 25th. Odd how some of you have gotten yours already and some are taking longer to get to the dealerships.
I'm ready to motor NOW!
I'm ready to motor NOW!
Tell me about it. Mine arrived a the distribution center on the 12th or 13th, I forget which, and it's scheduled to arrive at the dealer on 23rd. Of course, that is a Saturday and they don't accept cars on Saturday so it will sit on the truck until Monday. If hubby can get out of working Monday evening we'll pick it up then. Otherwise I am taking Tuesday afternoon off.

Gosh...I hope I get mine on Monday.... My MA told me that it was not even taken off the boat until the 20th. The TH boat records show that it was discharged to the Charleston port on the 15th. I am blown away by the misinformation that seems to be flying around. I am inclined to trust the boat records. It was on the TH and I know that the boat did not sit in port for 5 days! The miniUSA site says that it is "enroute". The mystery has yet to be solved. I hear my baby calling me! :???:
Well, I picked Hobbes up at 4 PM. The entire process took just under two hours. The service is excellent and they're very thorough. Got the bow treatment, two free Mini/dealer mugs and a gift certificate which I think is going to go towards the stuffed bulldog. Not sure, still checking the goody list.
The car drove home fine. It's a challenge keeping it under 4000. The MINI CD-rom says 4500 so that gives me a little freedom. I actually nudged 4100-4200 once during a merge which didn't worry me. First gear is taking a while to get used to and one the first start after sitting a while.. The car did a little 4-5 hiccup start. But so far that's been it.
The toughest thing for me to get used to is going be finding reverse on the 6-speed. Just have to remember it's way over there.
Another observation. The A/C is amazing. When I got out of it this morning after a brief run, my glasses actually fogged up. Anyone not getting cold air I think it's safe to say has a defect. It's not a design flaw.
Hobbes is over at a service center across the street getting some Italian shoes.
When I went down to my car to grab my digital camera which I though I had left in the glovebox, it wasn't there. Minor bummer. Luckily I resisted the urge to guy a new camera at the Ritz a block up. (More luck, I got busy at the last moment so I couldn't!) It was packed up in a camera bag at home so I have no pics yet. I'll post pics when I get to work.

You know we aren't letting you get off that easy! We need pics, details, opinions! Very exciting to see someone else on the TH get their car!
I won't get mine until late next week.
What part of the country are you in? NE?

Going to pick up my MINI today!
After a 6 day delay, the truck finally arrived yesterday. Having the alarm installed today, and picking it up at 4:00 (Denver time)!!! Only 3 hours to go!
This has been a long wait, and I am eagerly awaiting my reaction to the car. Details (and pics) to follow...

I had to go a long ways back to find this thread!

They have her all gassed and ready to go.
It's going to be a loooonnng two days.

Here are some pics.. I still need to return to the dealer to have the chrome grille, rallye lamps and bonnet stripes installed. Should be this week.
Took Hobbes up to Williamsport for the Little League World Series and then State College (Penn St) and ran like a dream. First gear isn't giving me any problems. I've been adhering to the break-in regiment and at over 600 miles I think they only thing that needs broken in yet is me. The MCS is a fantastic highway cruiser. I give it as high marks at speed on the interstate as my 3,500 lb 1995 900 SE.

I hope anyone waiting on their Mini gets theirs soon. The waiting is the hardest part.
