THE 2004 INDIE BLUE MCS!!! Applause, Applause Croud Screaming in the background!!

Thank you, Thank you very much!!!

I am doing the 04 for many reasons, but mainly becuase i want to hear that WHINE of the SC BABY! and the 100k warranty which is from MINI BMW (Same CPO as BMW) $50.00 deductable for each REPAIR not visit and it covers everything.
Noooooooooooo!!! i got here too late!!! get the 2007. i had a 2004 MCS (also bought it from mini of the hamptons) as well and the 2007 is a FAR better car all around. FAR BETTER. dude first off, i am getting 35 MPG in my 2007, my 2005 was like 25 MPG. also if you have geico (most insurance companies) you can pay an additional $5-$7 a month on a new car and get a full 100% bumper to bumper on it for 100,000 or 7 years. after 7 years thats only $420. my 2004 had alot of rattles, transmissin problems, and weird electrical issues as well. im going to be honest dude, i think you made a bad choice.

BTW i also had the 1.8T in my 2002 audi TT and this new MINI motor blows it away. the audi 1.8T had sluge, coil pack probelms, and i actually had a cracked header at 60,000 for no reason. not to mention the $1200 timing belt job that HAD to be done every 60,000 miles.

^ Flav, In all fairness though, you probably owned your 04 a lot longer than you've owned your 07 -- I'm sure the 07 is a great car, but only time will tell if it really is more trouble free than your 04. . . I hope it is, but you just don't know at this point.
Plus, the money this buyer saved by going with an 04 shouldn't be overlooked.

honestly, i owned my 2004 for 3 months/6,200 miles, then i traded it for a 350Z. MINI had to replace the whole transmission at 2,000 miles and it never drove the same after that. MINIs were still somewhat rare at the time so i actually got exactly what i paid for the MINI in trade from nissan for the 350Z. around $21,000 (my 2004 MCS was bone stock)

Well its done now. I really think i made a great decision. I could have got the 07' But hey, its my First MINI so let me get used to this and then i will get a 2010 (Which by then all the bugs will be worked out on the new one etc..)

From what i can see the 04's were great for Reliability. I made a wise choice, kept the Wallet FAT as well.

They are both good cars no need to debate which is better. It all comes down to personal choice and some people just love the way a screaming SC sounds especially with a CAI and pulley.

Grats on the new car and get some pictures posted.

Thanks Guys! I will have pics up tomorrow afternoon. I love this thing. I never thought i could love a car! I loved my 1997 Land Cruiser W/ 6in Lift, Bull Bar and TRD Supercharger, Too bad that was bad on Fuel!

But seriously. I just ran out after dinner to take my first Night Run to see the HID's and etc.. Man i LOVE this car!

The gearing takes alittle to get used to. The last Manual i had was a 2003 VW TDI Golf, that thing was a slob but i was used to the shifting patterns. This car is just a breath of fresh air much needed for my 6 day commute to my job (60 miles each day total) compared to my Honda Element i just traded in for this.

Now each day will be fun to go and fun to come back!

<street racing content deleted>

Ahhh now i need to go out and take another ride!!

i can't remember exactly what they said was wrong with it. it was making a grinding, rattling, marbles rolling around sound when in 2-3-4-5 gears while not giving the car gas. so if i was coasting in those gears it would sound terrible. MINI does not crack open the transmissions, they replace the whole thing, and thats what they did with mine.

BTW: if you were in the 2007 MINI you would have been able to keep up with that 350Z. trust me, i've owned both cars.

I kept up with the 350Z he was just a cars length away i'm pretty good at throwing the stick plus i wasn't reving out the engine to its redline when shifting.

For me this car does what i need just fine and hell, comming out of a 2006 honda ELEMENT this is a friggin ROCKET SHIP!

I will wait till 2010-2011 and then maybe get a NEW Cooper (JCW) by then. I think i made the right choice considering i got this thing so damn cheap. heck for the money i paid for this thing i could actually make money on it if i were to sell it with-in the next month or so.

The 07's have ugly bumpers (front & rear) and the interior is a joke. But hey it 's a turbo...

05 - 06 would be the best choice, but apparently is not an option.

Add a CAI for a nice sound upgrade. Pulley makes it even better.
Have fun, and be safe!

Congrats on the purchase!
(I personally had the choice between an 07 R56 or 06 R53...)

The R53 was less expensive, being CPO had a better warranty, and I liked it better

Again Thanks guys, i am planning on adding a CAI but the pully willmost likely be a JCW product becuase i don't want to screw w/ the warranty.

The 05-06 have the different gearing but there were none in sight at Mini of the hamptons, but again 18k for a 15k mile car CPO'd and racks, sirrius allready installed on top of all the factory pkgs on the car is an insane deal!

All the other MINI dealers on LI (NY) wanted crazy amounts of money for the 04's with higher milage and i would have to pay for the CPO ($1800.00) i was quoted form another dealer!!!

FYI, you can only get a JCW pulley as part of the JCW upgrade (SC w/pulley, head, exhaust) at $5K+... Not to worry, it's fun straight out of the box.

If you go to MINIusa.com->Learn->MINI Next Certified Pre-Owned, it tells you a little about the program. They buy a car with <60K miles/5Yrs old, and warranty it for 100K/6years when they sell it.
