Well I had a little problem with my Audi TT225 Quattro Roadster. Some one decided they wanted in it more than I liked to drive it. They sliced up the top trying to get the doors open. They never found the door lock switches. I had to get a rental car for the weekend. Got a yellow 06 Hummer H3 for the price of a smaller car. Pays to pay extra on insurance for the $50 a day car. It turned out to be a lot of fun to drive. I have had big jacked up Suburbans and Jeeps before. Plus the mpg doesn't bother me. I live .4 miles from work , round trip in less than a mile.
So I ride up to the Hummer dealer last Monday to see what new ones are running and leave with a white 07 H3. The guys at Flow Hummer have to be the nicest people. They wash your car for free every Saturday morning along with a breakfast. They just threw a picnic for all the Hummer owners this past Sunday. There were around 40 Hummers there.
Been through six cars in a year and a half.
Scion xB I put a supercharger on to a MINI S than had a bunch of engine work to a Porsche Boxster S to a VW Beetle turbo S to the Audi TT225 Quattro Roadster and now the H3. Trying to get use to not having a 6-speed as the last three cars were.

I like H2's and H3's.
I wouldnt ever buy one because I couldnt justify the price. Its just a Tahoe and a Trailblazer with different bodies on them.
If I wanted to go offroading, I would get a CJ or a Wagoneer.

I had a YJ with 8" of lift 33x12.50, winch , dual batteries and lockers, etc. Also, had a Suburban with 33"s on it.
AWD cars I've had a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 , Audi TT225 Quattro Roadster , Suzuki X-90 and a Geo Tracker.
We have a mountain place to go up to and they get more snow than we do.
The H3 is my 16th vehicle since I was 19 in 1991. I don't leave a car stock for too long. My MINI S had a pulley ,intake, header ,exhaust , rear foglight etc on it.

H3 is a Colorado with a body kit and is hideous (to drive behind). It's not very big on the inside, but huge on the outside...I just can't see it. Still, it's not that bad on gas, and it really isn't that bad of a ride quality. Like many cars, the big problem is usually the driver and their multitasking. The combination of "I'm indestructable" and "I must make this call, it's that important and I can't afford a hands free attachment" really result in some comic "blind" driving. I bet that you will be the good kind of H3 driver. It's not for me but seems good for you. Good luck!
Handsfree
Well Hummer has taken care of the handfree cellphone. It's built into every 2007 H3 along with the new analog - digital Onstar. The handsfree has 30 free minutes and another 100 minutes for $15. It can also be tethered into a Verizon account as a 2nd or 3rd line for $9.99 a month. Just press a button by the headlight switch and say "home" and it dials. There is a mic built into the roof and the audio plays throgh the front left speaker.
As far as me putting miles on my car. I put 200 miles on it a year back and forth to work
. My first tank I averaged 17mpg. That was mostly city driving. That is a lot better than driving my Dakota R/T with a 360 in it from North Carolina to Maryland to the R/T Nationals hitting 15mpg.
My old Suburban did around 15mpg on the highway with 33"s under it.
