Broke? Blame the car!
Broke? Blame the car!
Some of us seem to always be struggling to make ends meet. According to this article, it could be the car payments. Seems some good advice here, but one paragraph rubbed me the wrong way:
Is it just me?
BTW: look at the little picture with the money in it. See something familiar?
Treating cars as a status symbol. You can't watch television for long without being bombarded by car commercials, and many of us have absorbed the idea that we are what we drive. It's complete BS, of course, but some people have been so brainwashed that they literally drive themselves into bankruptcy.

I'm not saying my car is making me broke!
I just paid it off! YAY! But insurance, house payments, kids, taxes, wasting time on NAM, gas prices, mods, etc. take their toll.
I hoped this article would help others.

There should be, if there's not already, a class in personal finance taught in high school. I see so many young people get into so much debt and they will struggle with it for years, if not for the rest of their lives. Cars are a big part of it, to be sure, as are outlandish wedding costs, and other crap. A lot of younger people these days who are just starting out don't want hand-me-down furniture, so they go spend thousands to furnish a crappy apartment and acucmulate credit card debt that will haunt them long after the furniture (or electronics, or whatever) has been discarded. It really is a shame.
