Your Favorite Driving Music?!

What do you listen to when you want to cruise and chill out, or when you want to roll down the windows and drive...*ahem* slightly above the speed limit?

i've made two mixes that seem to always be in the player:

the mellow driver:
camera obscura, the shins, the cure, the decemberists, cky, death cab, the knife, peeping tom..and some other junk

the angry driver:
nin, old and mid-nineties ministry, and i'm having a total brain fart on what else is on it. i guess i don't have this one in too often!

I love driving to The Knife (particularly the Deep Cuts album)- what's not to love about a Swedish brother/sister duo that never show their faces in public?! They're so freakin rad..... as well as any Sage Francis album because he is my muse...oh, that Frank!

Soooo, spill your tunes. maybe even send a play list or two to a fellow MINI driver.

I defy anyone to listen to Jesus Built My Hotrod (Ministry) and not speed. Can't help but push the limits with that song, especially the 8 1/2 minute version.

When I'm out Motoring and just enjoying the ride, I like listening to the entire "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie soundtrack. Cranked up on the HK!

Nine Inch Nails (absolute fave), also: Tool, Radiohead, Crystal Method, Chemical Brothers, Dirty Vegas...

Those are my "most common" but I have a huge variety of stuff on my iPod.

More often than not now I just listen to SIRIUS anyway.

Speaking of NIN, have you fellow fans heard the new tracks from the new album "year zero" that is due out April 17? They are both listenable on NIN's myspace page - Survivalism and My Violent Heart. Awesome stuff. New live album "Beside You In Time" due out next Tuesday (02/27/07) too...

The Crystal Method and Chemical Brothers are also excellent driving tunes as the folks before me have stated.

When I call the tune, it's usually classic metal, old and new school prog rock, nu metal, industrial and classic rock when I rock, various upbeat classical pieces when I need to relax that come from my iPod or mix CDs. When I want someone else to do the heavy lifting, I have my Sirius tuned to The Vault, Classic Vinyl, Octane, Hard Attack, Buzzsaw, or The Spectrum.

Anything from Hans Zimmer works wonders as Driving music.

EDIT: do'h! Klaus Badelt did the first one and Hans Zimmer did the second one. Anyway, POTC music is good either way.

playlist

I made an MP3 disc, so i have so many albums on this one cd.

Rist Against
Fly Leaf
Trapt
Saliva
Shiny Toy Guns
Red Jumpsuit
A.F.I.
Matchbox 20
Dido
Dave Matthews Band

I like new age, and alternative. Anything.

Here's the math:
Music + (me in my mini) X the open road = A.W.E.S.O.M.E!

I listen to Techno/Electronica (Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyke, etc.) Also Ramstein, NIN, other various industrial rock, The Verve, Muse, classical music, jazz, some 80's new wave, Gary Neuman, Rush. I have a wide range. The only music I can't stand is country and rap.

Pink Floyd!!!

Some days when I feel like it I'll just sit in my MINI and listen to the tunes. :-)

It's good "quiet-time" with Argyll. :-)

This and The "Rudy" soundtrack make for sime fun drives. Since I recently discovered the iPod and having all my music I'm able to listen to ev eryhting I enjoy, all depends on time of day traffic flow, road conditions. I'll do anyhting from off to rock to country to rap to classical and I can throw it on shuffle an constantly be mixing it up.

Pf course Driving the Black Pearl She is Happier when I play her theme somg entering int a set of twisties

you MUST try listening to The Knife whilst driving!!!

sometimes music is very distracting for me, but then again, i just learned to drive stick, so there ya go.

the SC whine is also quite fun and musical. it's like The Chap is sighing and telling me "thank you for adopting me! we were made for one another!" and then i say "you know, you're very dreamy..." and we motor off into the sunset.

There seems to be a good contingent who like their motoring tunes with a bit more of an edge.

If I had to pick one song you need to add to a playlist, it's Boris "Pink" off their album Pink. It's the perfect complement; you're a person who listens to old Ministry in a MINI, and this is a (ostensibly) metal band who names their album Pink. Enjoy!
