So I ordered an Acura RDX this week
After much waiting my wife and I went out an ordered one of the new Acura RDX's. It was released this month as a direct competitior to the BMW X3.
We needed a medium sized SUV that we can fit more of our stuff into. While we are active outdoors people we do not go off-roading in our cars other than an occasional fire-road up some of our mountains. Safety, comfort, build quality and the "fun to drive for an SUV" factor was also taken into consideration.
We have owned Honda's for a long time and wanted similar build quality in an SUV. It sized to be slightly smaller than the MDX version currently available. The kicker is that the RDX comes with a turbo injected 240 HP (new generation)V-TEC engine. When I test drove this thing I thought the salesman was going to pass out
. It has a tremendous get up and go for an SUV and handles really well. I was able to corner in it much better than I had anticipated. It has the same "Suoer Handling" all wheel drive found in the RL. One of the coolest features was a sport shifting mode where you could engage the use of the F-1 style paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. When you moved the shifter into this mode you can feel/hear the car hold back the engine and waiting for you to punch it and have some fun!
Comfy interior and nice looking dash console were some other nice features. Many safety features also which in important since the little one will be riding along often.
Some of the negative features we had to swallow were mediocure gas mileage and the need for 91 octane gas. I also believe that some insurance companies will penalize you in your premiums for driving a tubro SUV. It's not like it's a Cayanne S
.
After looking at the RDX, X3, Subaru B9 Tribeca, Mazda CX-7 the RDX fit closest to what we wanted. If you are in the market for a mid sized SUV I suggest you give the RDX some consideration

I like the looks of the new RDX ... targeted as upscale, luxary softroader ...
Did you get the only option, that is, the electronics package? If so, what you think of the GPS and BT?
Yep, we ordered the technology package. I played around with the NAV a little at the dealer and seemed easy to use. I did not get a chance to play around with the voice commands though. Due to some other financial obligations we are going to schedule to car to arrive the 1st of November. I will post pics when it arrives.
Acura has posted s site that indicates some of the phones knnown to work with the RDX's bluetooth. I don't think this is an all inclusive list though. My phone was on there anyway.
We are scheduling the vehicle to arrive around the 1st of November to coincide with other financial obligations. Pics will definitly follow.
