Mustang Shelby GT-500
will have a sticker of ~$42k. Gee, that's about the cost of a JCW with a few extra bits thrown in! I know the Mustang will get a mark up, but crafty people will be able to find ways to get them at list....
But talk about bang for the buck!
500 HP @ 6000 RPM
480 ft-lbs @ 4500 RPM
0.95 gees on the skid pad
0-60 in under 5 sec
1/4 mile in 13.1
Sound fun?

since it is a limited (well if thousands are limited) for only one year. (pretty sure of that ... Shelby is moving on to a new project). Considering that the "option" to buy the first one sold for $600K, that got to tell you something about the pent up demand. Of course, I've read lots of gripes from people thinking they were actually going to walk into a dealer and buy one for $42K. yeah sure
G8, what JCW gets 32 MPG? I'm lucky to get 25. Besides, with that kind of stock power, who cares about mileage

Ford dealers can be thieves...
that for sure. The early mark-ups killed the Thunderbird.....
But I'm sure there are ways.... I just wouldn't expect to find them by walking into a showroom.
Time will tell.
Matt
ps, I was thinking of getting one, but I've still got too many cars now!

Dr. when I first saw the title of your post I thought you were selling your absolutely beautiful 1965 Mustang.
While the new one is mighty nice, I'm a bit old school when it comes to American muscle cars, particularly Mustangs, Camaros, Vettes and 'Cudas.
However, I do agree this latest version is indeed a lot of bang for the buck!

Today, check out the MSN home page. Ford has an amusing interactive ad where you click and drag (ha ha) the Mustang.

Ford is still going backwards.

Steve
Ford is planning to build between 8000 and 10000 during each of the next three years, thus, prices should be OK after the initial rush. Just wait a bit and I think one will be had for sticker at least...maybe less if gas keeps going up in price.

The ’66 Hertz Shelby GT350H was specially prepared for Hertz Rent-A-Car as a publicity move for the benefit of Hertz, Shelby American, and Ford. The cars made for Hertz were equipped with automatic transmissions and special black-and-gold paint jobs. Only 1,001 copies were produced. It’s hard to imagine walking into a Hertz agency and renting a GT350 right off the lot, but it was reality in 1966.

It is a Shelby...
but not the GT-500. It does the basic mods to a GT to get another 25 HP. If you go to the shelby american site, there are lots of photos of the Hertz cars to oggle.
They even have a parts kit to create something they call a CS6, witch is a Paxton package for the 6 cylinder. $15k (there's body, tires wheels and a whole bunch of other stuff in there) and you get 350 HP out of the 6 banger!

For example Elise something like 4.4 so some Elise drivers like to use that number while Lotus claims 4.9 and other mags around 4.9 Its all about the numbers, I do not believe they may really car if they burn up the clutch dumping it at 8K.
