WOW, just wow...Maybe GM isnt dead
They produce the Sky here in Delaware. I see the guys driving them around everyday with masking on them. So far, I'm not that impressed, but then again, it is pretty impressive for a Saturn. They have gotten a lot better in recent years, so has Hyundai, the Tiburon SE with the V6 is a pretty impressive car, a friend of mine just got one, and he loves it.
Is this a GM lover's fest?
Good for Saturn that they are imrproving the look and quality of their cars. A huge leap from the TupperWare mobiles thay have been building since 1990.
16 years later, finally someone at that division has finally realized that Saturn was nothing but the laughing stock of GM and the car industry in general.

Not a love fest, but GM has bad public perception and largely does not deserve it.
As stated, Aura is the same platform as the G6, 93, Malibu but has a 3.6 liter DOHC, VVT high feature V6 with about 250 hp. Should be a screamer, that motor is currently offered in the CTS, SRX, Lacrosse. If they offer that with a manual trans (I think they will), it will really move. I had a G6 rental 2 weeks ago during travel and was quite impressed. I'd be willing to bet the bashers on this forum have never been behind the wheel of the cars they bash, which is a shame.
The Outlook is a new platform that is currently not in production. This is a platform that will be for new vehicles, one is a GMC (can't remember the name), and the other is the Buick Enclave. I saw the Buick at the NAIAS and it's a great looking SUV. Yes these SUVs have third row seats. They are a lot bigger than that picture looks, they are in fact Tahoe sized. These are unibody platforms that handle extremely well for SUVs and use the high feature V6 with V8 optional. I've got some inside info on these, I know people that worked on them and they are supposedly winners.
The Sky/Solstice are great handling cars, better, in fact, than our Minis. There was some discussion on the Solstice a while ago and it got mixed responses on this site. I've driven one back to back with my MCS and was impressed. It's better balanced, better looking (IMO), but the engine is more harsh and it is less practical. I would have bought one had they been available when I got my MCS and could learn to live w/o trunk space.
Oh and whoever bashed the 7.0 liter V8.....come on dude! 505 hp and 28 mpg highway (23 combined). How can you say no to a 427 that makes brutal power yet still delivers good economy? I've never driven this one, but have driven the 400 hp C6...it's worth the money.
I'm just giving some facts, some of these are pretty new cars and the info might not be that well distributed yet. Please continue the regularly scheduled program.
EDIT: Sorry, that fuel economy for the vette was for the 400 hp version. The Z06 *only* gets 26 mpg hwy.

I think these cars are just what GM needs to create buzz - the photos of the interior are quite frankly stunning and right up there with VW - truly the benchmark for interior quality.
Look at what Chrysler did with 300M - it's launched Chrysler back into profitability. Don't beat a man when he's down - GM will come out swinging or at least give a good fight trying - now if their PR folks can get the message down correctly.....

A certain somebody in a certain house needs to go do a little union busting to save GM. They can't go on like this.
I see a lot of people hold up things like the Z06 and the Sky as why GM is great, but unfortunately that means nothing. I think they're great too. If I had the money and I had to choose between a new MX-5 vs. a Sky, I'd take the Redline Sky. The new MX-5 just looks silly. Unfortunately, the rest of their cars are uninspiring and immemorable. That combined with their, maybe undeserved stigma of being unreliable, puts them at a great disadvantage to the Japanese, who have an, in my opinion, undeserved reputation of reliability and the Germans, who excel in technology, luxury and sportiness.
