I wish that BMW would move toward Mazda's mantra of lighter is better. Imagine an M coupe that was as light as an MX-5. It makes me all giddy.
Neverthless, I'm sure this will be an awesome car.On a second viewing of the videos, I wish the Mini had a shifter as slick as that...
Automobile and a feature a few month ago...
with a suggested price. Don't remember what it was, but it wasn't cheap! And the M guestimate on the price was way to rich for my blood...

But the M coupe will be faster than the E46 M3 because it is lighter, and I bet that the last few yrs of the M coupe's production we'll see BMW put in the V8 from the next gen M3 just like they did with the last M coupe/roadsters. Imagine that..400bhp in a car that size/weight!
Can't wait to see one in the flesh. I'm a serious fan of the Z3 Coupe and I want to see the two juxtaposed before I sign off on the Z4 version. I've noticed that photos oftentimes don't do justice to modern vehicle lines. Case in point: Porsche's Cayman. A really beautiful car when you see it up close, but from certain angles it just doesn't present itself well in two dimensions.

But then he offered me a Chevy SUV. I am keeping my soul for now.
Maybe this summer I'll take a trip on down to the crossroads and see if I can get some guitar talent.
Surprise, surprise, I'm drooling over a Bangled car! Actually it's not the first time, since the clown shoe Z3 was technically during his reign. I don't think that the Z4 equals the outrageous lines of the clown shoe, so I won't be trading it in (like I could afford to).

I think you'll see these at Barrett Jackson in 25 years.....

My theory is that they softened you up over time (as posted here: http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums...7425599-2.html)
A statement made that I feel suits it "too much styling, too little style", outside and inside (I do so lament BMW's abondonment of the driver oriented cockpit for the slabby flat interiors of the newer cars). Anyway, as I say, I always reserve full judgement until I see any car in the flesh and would drive anything before deciding if I really wanted it (and see what inherent problems it has), but I have a feeling of the two the Caymen, or something else for the $, would be my choice.
So there are a few of us M Coupe/MINI people huh?

What was the name of the lightweight version of the E36 M3? Was it just "M3 lightweight"? It's been done before, and I hope they do it again. The RS4 and CSL show that they've got the idea, but haven't got the nerve to really strip one out.
Z series are about the only car with a BMW badge on it that i dig.
that and the old fast backs from a few years ago. apparently nicknamed the clown shoe
Just not a fan of the rest of the stuff. nice enough cars, just not my tasteio

Here are some more pics.
I say in a M roadster the other day and I'm surprised at how little I like it. The car feels gigantic and it sort of distances you from the car. I really don't understand it. I sit in an M3 and it feels significantly smaller and much more intimate than the roadster. Sad, really.

That's progress for ya!
