I was also looking at a kit car that looked sort of like a elise but was based on a honsa or toyota powerplant. Been trying to find a website or pics but unable to now. First saw it on ebay kit cars.

You couldn't find it in Kit Cars magazine? You might try googling "kit cars" and clicking on everything in the first 5 pages. There are a lot of different makes available now. Some are quite seductive. I even saw a couple versions of D-Type Jaguars with Jag parts. Pricey though. Good luck.

I've google every combo of kitcar/honda/toyota and haven't been able to find the kit again. It looked like an elise or a dino ferrari. It was to use an accord as a donor car for mechanicals. The frame was provided. As you know kit car bring out quite a few results.
Of course it could be out of business as many kt cars do that.
I bought my Cooper because it was a fuel-efficient hatchback that also just happened to be my dream car. If it didn't exist, I would have bought a 2001 Honda Civic hatchback, which was the last year they made them in the non-Si version. As far as new cars go, I'd probably go with a Scion xB. I remain mystified at why anyone would buy a new VW with all of their problems over the last few years.

I’ve owned two VWs. The first was an ’81. The second was a ’90. Both vehicles ran over 150k miles. VWs are a little bit different. Obviously in recent years they have had some quality problems. (MINIs aren’t exactly the pinnacle of quality construction either.) VWs like MINIs have enjoyed a little bit of a cult following that has encouraged maintaining and modifying vehicles. I enjoyed working on my ’81 rabbit. I have a Toyota Sienna that has not required any significant repair work in the first 105K miles. It has also not caused me any significant joy. Reliability is not everything.
VWs are a little bit different... Reliability is not everything.
I hear you. Didn't mean to hijack the thread. You make a good point about the MINI not having world-renowned reliability either. I know four people who have owned VWs in the last 5 years, and 3 of them have been nightmares. Then again, my Cooper's transmission was replaced at 15,000 miles.
Not officially, which makes it prime for the collectible import rule. This allows you to bring one in without making it 100% EPA/DOT compliant, and lets you drive up to 2,500 miles per year.
My dad used to have a white hatchback, but i dont remember which one, i could have sworn it was an old delta, but he says no. I miss that car. Its a shame it had to be junked. it was in terrible shape. i would kill for any Lancia...at least most old lancias, not a bog fan of the new ones.
Fun car = Lotus Elise but I am actually looking for an everyday car so I can relagate the Mini to a weekend car. I will probably end up with a pre-owned E-Class Mercedes.
Had I been in Europe at the time, it would have been a tough dicision between the Mini and the Audi S3...4wd AND turbo? hard to beat that...

theres 2 waaaaay better 4WD AND turbo cars in the american market...EVO and STi. But i agree that the S3 is sort of cool. course the ultimate 4WD and turbo car was posted my yours truly earlier in this thread
