My 350GT with TEIN springs installed! :)

Just got done installing the TEIN S-Tech lowering springs today on my
04' G35 Coupe6MT.

The ride is very smooth and almost better than stock. The initial left/right
steering input is a tad slower now so I think Im going to get either
a Cusco or Nismo swaybar set. But might wait until Spring.

Thanks for looking!

Driving around over the weekend and found that the rear spring rate is too low...

Factory F: 314lbs/in (linear) R: 342lbs/in (linear)
S-Tech F: 358lbs/in (progressive) R: 274lbs/in (linear)

The car feels good going straight and over bumps...but when I hit a
little dip (recessed man hole lid) on one side of the car, the rear spring
takes a fraction of a second to rebound forcing the car to slightly
twitch and unsettle. I don't like it.

So ordered a set of Eibach Prokits and going to swap out the rears only
so that the initial bump will match the TEIN's but will progressively
increase. This shall hopefully eliminate this twitchy feel.

Prokit R: 274 ~ 463lbs/in (progressive)

Coincidentally, the initial rate is the same as the S-Tech.
Unfortunately, the Prokit's fronts are too soft for my taste
(229~337lbs/in).

I should have the springs by mid week. wish me luck.
trial and error.. just part of the game. hahaha

Got the Eibachs last night and swapped out just the rear
after trying several different senario's.

All I can say is "YUM!" this setup is great. Very neutral
and firm, but not harsh.

The ride is even a tad lower on the rear than the S-Techs so
the car sits flat.

And got a 4wheel alignment yesterday and now my car runs even better!

The rear felt somewhat blurred...not crisp while I drove through some
semi-twisty roads out in the woods. After the alignment, the response is
much much more refined.

Now, I think I am going to get a rear camber correction kit and get
another alignment later on when I have some Tokico shocks down the
road. or, get some wider 18's on there.

Ken - how would you compare the handling to your MCS? Any engine mods planned?

dan- These cars handle completely differently so this is why I enjoy
both for its different characteristics.

In a nut shell...
..My MCS is for when I want to DRIVE!
..My G35C is for when I want to cruise!

As you probably already know, G35C has a lot of stability at high
speeds, corners well, fast steering response (not as nimble
as MINI ofcourse), and a more of a near-luxury, plush ride.

The G35C feels much smaller than what it really is, but
through tight corners you feel the weight...so I am trying to
minimize this area right now. My current setting lessened this feel
quite a bit, but now, I am closing in on maxing out the
Pilot Sports's adhesion. The tires are only 225F /245R width so
had to get the alignment done for more neg camber to help
the tires hold more grip through the fast turns. I don't think
getting the stiffer swaybar is the way to go (as I mentioned up top)
unless I get wider, grippier tire because I am already at a near neutral
to slightly oversteer handling already. If I get wider rear tires, I would
like to dial-in the camber again.

I don't plan on any engine related mods as the car sounds great out
of the box and has plenty of torque for the footwork I have right now.
 It's fun to drive...just in a different way.

I really like that car, and when i actually get a job I'll look for a nice used off lease car. ALthough i presume the 6sp ones will have taken a beating. I like the high pitched ballato or brass instrument sound it makes, very non standard. Good luck with the mods

Cheers,
Jonathan

Thanks, Jonathan. Majority of the owners are similar to the
MINI crowd from what Ive seen, so the MT's are probably well
kept even if it was a leased car.

Added Stillen rear camber adjustment rods last week and had
the car's alignment re-done. Handles even better now.

I think Im going to do the Tokico D-Specs (adjustable shocks)
next.

So your going for the suspension mods? Is there alot of stuff that can be done to the motors? It seems to be definitly engineered to get all the power out of it already.

Yep, just suspension and dressup mods on this car. There are quite a bit
of parts available like the usual intake, header, exhaust, supercharger,
etc. for motor mods, but imho, if you want to mod a Nissan
for high performance he/she should go for the 350Z instead.

you think so? i would definitly choose the G35 coupe over the 350Z, i love the shape of the G. Much more than the Z. the price isnt that much higher? but yes, they different purposes.

soulcoughlin- yah, I prefer the G's lines myself.

Took a few more picts the other day and yesterday.
Car feels good. plush, smooth, and feels like it glides over the bumpy
Chi-town roads.
