looking at a BMW 318it

Any Beemer experts want to give me the low down on this model? I have 3 for sale locally between4-6000$and mileages from 100k-170k.

Im done w my Mini. 55000 miles and over 17K in warranty repairs? Car in shop for 6 of past 8 months, I'm so done. Buying a lifted XJ Jeep, and some other 2 door sporty car with whatever I can get for my heap.

I had one.. really enjoyed it, good gas mileage, typical problems you see with e36. Check out 318ti.org if you have not been over there already.

I've been, made me want one even more. Trying to decide if it's stupid to get an old BMW to replace a faulty BMW product. $5,700 one at a local dealer has 108 k, big brakes and nice 5 spoke light BMW 17's with fresh rubber, clean silver finish, and a clean black leather interior. Really tempting. Tint, better lights, upgrade the audio, and this could be a fun commuter. But it means BMW service... I guess I can go independent since I'm way out of warranty. Might not be so bad....

Hi 2010chili,
318ti's are great. I bought one for my son to drive and it worked out well. They get good gas mileage and very peppy. Everyone I've seen has a Limited Slip, I think they all do. Ours has a 4 speed auto. The rear suspension is ALL e30 which is a good set up. The little motor set's way back for BMW 50/50 weight distribution. DOHC with a working chain tensioner.

you probably bought it by now, but id reccomend an 04-06 mini s. I guess you had an 07-10 which is the n14 engine and has lots of issues. Just my 2cents
Cheers Badge from SC
