My low beam was not working, so I replaced the bulb. That worked for a while, but I noticed there were bare wires that may be touching. So I replaced the whole headlight assembly (needed new shiny headlights anyway :-)

That still didn't work, so I thought it might be the connector going into the assembly, so I soldered a new one on and still didn't fix it.

Took it to my mechanic.

He hooked it up to his computer and could get the low beam to come on, so it appears all the wires are ok, but something is janky in the computer.

Could the bare wires touching burn out something in the onboard computer?

Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them?

I'll be travelling to my NOT SO LOCAL mini dealer to see what they say.

Hoping that a reset of the computer may help. Is mini the only place that can do a reset?

Could be, but electrical stuff can get pretty intense. If you do not wish to take it to a MINI dealer, I'd recommend a MINI indy shop in your area. Where are you located? Maybe someone might be able to give you a shop that is local to your area that can help.

 

Have you checked fuse?
