Uh, no... definitely not punishment enough. A lot of men your age have no car and are exceptionally jealous of your POS T&C...

I won't say anything more because none of it would be nice.

I wish I could say I feel sorry for you, but I don't. I did not learn to drive until I was 25 years old. Even then, because I am disabled I ended up with restrictions on my license barring me from exceeding a speed of 40mph and going outside of a 15 mile radius of the address listed on my license. I had these restrictions for a year and a half. Suck it up.

WTF? Because you are disabled? Do we live in America or what here? That's absurd! Glad you are free of your restrictions now.

I love all the sanctimonious posts in every "i got pulled over" thread, meanwhile every other thread on this board is chasing horsepower, tunes, downpipes, intercoolers, and radar detectors... 90% of us speed, let's not be too holier than thou here. Yes OP was stupid and should learn some sense, but come on.

The degree of the offense is the point...and the place.
A 35 mpg zone IS USUSLLY A RESIDENTAL STREET...kids playing, cars pulling out...and 76 in a 35 is PURE RECKLESSNESS.... More than 2x the limit....in a cooper no less....on a street, with opposing traffic, no guard rails, trees, with possible sand, ice, and KIDS and pets playing...
If you want to do 2x the speed limit on a multilane highway...talking 65x2=120, plus another 15 or so...at least those roads are made for speed. Folks doing 76 in a 35 make the news for killing folks or themselves when they hit a tree or a house (my nephew did this, non-mini, spent a YEAR in jail...killed his passenger..my nephew broke his skull and a few other bones.....was also 17...charged as an adult..was in mass).
Anybody who has ever had a relative seriously hurt or been in a family impacted by such recklessness cannot forgive and forget....loss of life is terrible...and it can result in the loss of YOUR freedom if you live.

Hey I speed through 35 zones all the time, I've done it at more than 70mph many times. Just do it where you know the area so no one will get hit and have a car that you can rely on to stop if u have to or you may live with the guilt of hurting someone someday. With that being said crying about driving a town and country...pleeeeaaase take the bus you whiney little bum. Your lucky you parents are letting you drive at all after that bs. Your way too young to be screwing around like that, then have the nerve to complain about the consequences.

It has been a few decades (4+) since I moved out of Ohio but they did have a stone-age mentality about safety all distorted by greed and feigned morality. It was quite common to post 50mph roads at 35 and then arrest everyone who wasn't a property tax paying local. Sitting at the bottom of a hill with radar was common too.

My MINI wants to run at 80mph. I use the cruise control so I can drive without routinely taking my eyes off the road.

I think they will suspend your license. At least that is what they do in these parts. 76 in a 35 is a pretty large screw up. Hope you learn a lesson from this. I also hope your Dad makes you pay any fines.

Edit..... After reading your other posts OP I think this....
Seems like you don't understand the consequences of your action.....however the judge will be able to elaborate extensively I'm sure..

Google

You might be able to Google options? I am sure you are not the first at your age and for speeding. Start with trying to find out what happens and options.

I don't speed personally, I have my best friend called cruise control and I love it. And a radar detector so when it goes off I know what I am doing as I don't trust police. And a Blackvue recording my position and speed via GPS. Over kill? Like I said I trust no one.

Other advice like an attorney would be good, but ask your friends, FaceBook, anything. I would find it hard to believe that you are unique. There have to be others before you.

I am not defending or saying speeding if OK. But look at our criminal justice system, depends who you are, can you claim minority status? Lots of cases are pleaded out. In other words, fair is not part of the criminal justice system.

While TV is not necessarily reality, so it is more true than you think. I used to meet up with a Judge of all people at parties. And have several lawyers friends as a CPA. Summary, it is not about fair.

First time offense should not be as bad as second or third offense. In other words there is wiggle room for first time offenders.

You just need to research, call a few attorneys as most phone consultations are free. Look at attorney websites and post a question. They answer questions.

You have options, it is all in how you play the cards and now is the time to grow up and get educated. In other words, you try to make the best of a bad situation.

Education is power.

Plea Deal

Just to bring the point home. This was in the paper this morning.

"The teenager accused of stabbing her 2-year-old sister will be out of prison in seven years after entering a plea deal Monday afternoon in a DeKalb County courtroom."

She killed her sister (murder) and with plea deal is out in seven years.

"Through her attorneys, she rejected a plea deal in September that would have given her a reduced sentence – 10 years in prison as opposed to a mandatory 30 years if found guilty at trial – for pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter."

So seven years for murder? Everything is negotiable. Is the law about fair? I rest my case, point in fact.

My favorite mountain road is marked 25mph, and when it is crowded with cyclists you really need to slow it down. Having said that, OP should spend some time on the track days in his area with his Mini instead of ripping up the town. Mid-Ohio track used to offer them, usually through clubs.

I know this is a safety PSA about motorcycles, but it makes the point clear about speed on the road vs the track. Bonus - Mick Doohan epic wipeouts!

It's a loooong story, but yes it was quite an uphill battle and my disability was the main cause. But I won eventually. 8 years, no tickets or accidents. I haven't even been pulled over. Ever. Suck it, bureaucracy!

Wow,

I can't imagine. And today I hear something on the radio about illegals getting drivers licenses in California? Just hard to balance your story with that one.

Very sorry....I can't put myself in your shoes to completely understand. Some things just make no sense to me.

Thanks for sharing.

It wasn't a residential street the speed limit used to be 55. And to everyone bitching at me for speeding I don't care what you have to say. My question was what do you think they will do not what do you think about me speeding. And can I turbo my motor r50 motor without substantial modifications?

Honestly...I think your drivers license will be suspended.....
And a r50 motor has entirely different internals.... And higher compression pistions...would last 8000-10000 miles if you turbo or sc it...and you tranny will blow up....it is the weak spot hp wise on the r50 cooper when driven hard or has hp added. But I am thinking you will have it parked for 6 months...so you should have time....to think while riding in the back of a minivan....and work on the car...but no $$ cause the fine.....
Some lessons take time to set in....

lessons can be learned through shelling money out of my wallet which is what I'm gonna have to do. Just because I like to go fast doesn't mean I haven't learned anything.

Wish $$ could solve any problem...
But it can't....
In a similar situation my nephew lost control of a car...hit a house...was 17...his buddy....in the passenger seat was killed....
The legal case dragged on..a good lawyer ( and lots of connections as the son of a cop)delayed the case till graduation, but my nephew had to go to prison for a year...whil everybody else went to collage...ended up 6 month in lockup...then 3 on work release, 3 probation...
No liscence till 21....
The charge...manslaughter was a felony... So for the rest of his life he must explain being a convicted felon....and WHY he cannot get MANY jobs as a result.
He has learned.... But his buddy is dead....life over...buried.... Something he must deal with the rest of his life....all cause he decided to hotdog...hit a bump on a curve...and lost control.
Consider yourself LUCKY.

Maybe so ,but you don't ask how to turbocharge your car in the same thread you ask about speeding ticket consequences.

Even a 17 year old punk SHOULD be smart enough to not talk about turboing his r50 after going more than double the speed limit.

And, if I'm somehow wrong and you're not a troll, yes, it's extremely easy to turbo your r50. You can just pick up an asian turbo on ebay for $500 and install it yourself. Don't be fooled by some other threads, you don't actually NEED an intercooler. Also, you'll need more air to your engine so just re-route your exhaust and make it hook up to your intake....this way you will be conserving energy and get plenty of air flow into your engine.

If my boys were to have caught doing that, they would have been relegated to riding the cheese wagon to school until they graduated.

In Alaska, there are Instructional, Provisional and Regular licenses.

If you get a hefty citation such as yours, a driver on an Instructional will have 6 months added to their license before becoming eligible for the Provisional. If on a Provisional that another 6 months is added before going to a Regular.
