I have have not hit anything in over 30 years, except a deer about 25 years ago.

Now if I hit something tomorrow, I'm going to make it my mission to find Bumble78 and poke him real hard in the ribs

Same story here, NEVER totaled a car, only a handful of car accidents at most. BUT..moto accidents in a 1982 GS1100E & 1984 RZ350 and a friend "totaled" my nice 1976 RD 400 by letting it turn into a bucket of rust in Miami, all because he broke off the gear shift lever and couldn't fix it, SAD but true.

GS1100E was all my fault, went from a prior RD125 to mega power, the RZ was a dumb driver, cops heard the horn go off for a split second prior and told me on the way to the hospital that I had "no time" to react, maybe ...

I totaled my fabled Datsun '76 280Z... Gal ran a red light and I broadsided her... I've got to admit I was going too fast... Let's see, that would have been in '86 I think. I was frightened to drive after that for awhile...

Lets see... I've broadsided a car with my motorcycle, I flew over the top and landed in a sitting position on the other side.

Next year, same bike, thrown off of it (tank slapper) going 85 near Wall Drug in S.D. Somersaulted almost 300 feet down I90.

Another bike, hit deer glancing blow, knocked me and bike into ditch fortunately didn't crash.

Nope - never totalled anything. (Knock on wood)

FHP wrote me a ticket, when he finally talked me up there 3 days later, for Careless Driving and on the ticket it notes a 365' skid mark.

"Yes sir, I had heard in a tank slapper you should get on the gas and try and power out of it, soooo I may have been exceeding the 55mph by a bit..."

North of Weeki Wachee Springs on U.S. 19. The friend next to me clocked us over 125mph, when the shake, rattle, roll, then.... KABAMM, ... I am bouncing down the road just trying to stay away from 5oo lbs of alloy aluminum, gas, rubber and steel... Minimal injuries, too

I feel your pain! After mine, I think I spent the night in a cement mixer but went into the badlands the next day anyway.

I totalled my first car, an '89 Toyota Corolla when I was 16. I was driving home from school as about this time of year. There had been a really bad accident on the interstate, so I decided to go the back roads. It was drizzling but I didn't think too much of it. Then I turned on this road that goes along the side of a BIG hill, the kind of hill that goes straight up on one side of the road and straight down to a creek on the other side of the road. I was being good and driving about 30mph on the road (speed limit 35, but I had slowed down a bit b/c of the rain) and I came up on a section of road that was covered in leaves that had been rained on all day. I started to spin and the way I was going I was going to slide off the side straight down into the creek, so I cut my wheel hard and started spinning the other way. I just about had it under control when the passenger side tires caught traction and I flipped over off the other side of the road. The fun part was that there was a fence there that was made with old telephone poles with the big metal rod down the middle. I uprooted 3 of them, one went through my engine bay (dented the block to the middle of the car), the third went through my trunk, and the second one went through the b-pillar to the point that the passenger side b-pillar was touching my shoulder. Fortunately my friend that I carpooled with to school was sick that day, or she probably would have been killed by that. The only injury I received was a small bump on the head and bruised knees that came from undoing my seatbelt not really realizing that I was upside down b/c I was so mad that on this country road, people were driving past me without stopping to see if I was OK!

Knock on wood - I've not totalled a car.

But hubby did - about 5 years ago - his Dodge Ram pick up - all his fault - and thank goodness, nobody was hurt...

Well, a friend of mine just totalled his first car

It was on the news and everything
http://www.channelcincinnati.com/new...52/detail.html

A car about 100 ft. in front of him swerved to avoid a deer and everyone in back of that car (2-3 cars?) suddenly became a frenzy. At some point he was making a manuever to the left of the bunch and he was clipped from behind sending him spinning into the rear wheels of a semi truck. They were told that they were run over by the semi truck. Regardless, they were struck by the semi and flipped (several times? ) and landed upsidedown in the rightmost lane. Then a few seconds later they were struck again (whilst upsideown) by another vehicle. His girlfriend was stuck in the car for a while, but out of all of this they both only have some bruises and cuts from glass. He's the one with most of the cuts b/c until the cops got there, he was crawling around in the glass trying to get his girlfriend out. He is in our group of car friends that are mostly Subaru people. He is not your usual 17 year old either, driving very safely, being perhaps the safest driver in the group (and most of us are late 20's, early 30's), particularly with his gf in the car. After he told us, we are all really amazed and thrilled that we aren't planning on going to any funerals this weekend

Here's a pic of his car

I've had a license for 12 years now and totaled two cars! The first I was coming home from high school and was rear ended by another student that didn't stop fast enough at a red light. The poor old 86 Taurus with 200K miles was not worth nearly enough to be repaired.

The second was when I was in college and a Nissan trunk didn't stop fast enough at a red light (sounds familiar) and rear ended my 94 Escort. That was much more violent as it shortened the car by about 12 inches. The force was also great enough to bend the floor boards so the driver's seat was permanently reclined about 6 inches!

I've also been in a third accident where I was rear ended at a red light (I'm cursed) with my 00 Cougar. Fortunately that was just a tap compared to the other two and my bumper was easily repairable.

First Accident that caused Damage to the car mid 1993 to a 1988 Ford Ranger with Bigfoot package. Put a 2 in dent in front corner. Ran a red light due to observing a lovely young lady falling down some steps causing her outfit to come off. Didnt mention it to the officer or the courts.

1975 Monza 2+2 V8 4speed

Cam, Edelbrock intake, Holley carb, Hooker headers, Hurst shifter and a fiberglass hood with Pro Stock scoop.

It’s 8am in the morning and I’m heading home from the coalmines in West Virginia, racing another coal miner in his 70 GTO.

I’m chasing the GTO. He passes another car and than I pass. We’re hitting speeds of 100 down the straights. The GTO passes a Fiat going down a short straight and I hold back till the next straight. By the time we’re coming out of the turn onto the next straight, the Fiat has picked up the pace. But 30 years ago, my mind was on catching the GTO. So, even though the Fiat was already making 60 or so, I’d already down shifted to 2nd and pulled out to pass. With the end of the straight coming up fast and the Fiat not backing down, I’ve grabbed 3rd gear and the speedo is bouncing off 90mph. Unable to brake hard for the upcoming right hand turn due to the fiat close behind, I decide to slow what I could and drift through the right hander. This should scrub enough speed off to allow me to make the sharp left that lies just past the right turn.

Problem was, the Monza drifted more than I planned. The left rear drifted off the road and into a rod iron fence. Taking out 75 feet before spinning me around and back into the fence with the right front. After taking out another 25 feet of the rod iron fence, the Monza did a full 360 and stopped 3 feet from a cement abutment.

Luckily no one was hurt. The police showed up and after several minutes trying to wake the old lady who owned the house behind the fence, the cop walked the lady down to the front of her yard to check out the damage. She looked down the fence line and back the other way. Her comments were, My my, been several people hit that fence before, but no one ever tore it up like that.

The cop walked over and asked me what happened. I told him a Plymouth going the other way had forced me off the road on the right and that I had lost it. A few minutes later while sitting in the police car filling out the reports, the cop asked what color the Plymouth was that had ran me off the road. I hesitated for a few seconds, to which the cop said, “Any color will do”.

With a couple hundred feet of skid marks and racing slicks in plain view in the back of the Monza, it was a good thing for me that the cop that showed up, just happened to be a friend of mine.

I had a Nissan Truck that a gas line broke and the truck went up in flames. Best thing that happen to me other than I loved that truck. I got twice as much from insurance company because they couldn't get the miles to get the value.

But here is what I did to my Mini just the other day.

Never back up in hard RAIN!!

My first car, a 1997 explorer sport, never got totalled, but had a lot of fixes from a head on collision (not my fault) and fishtailing into a ditch (totally my fault). It was repaired well and lives on with a new owner as being my MINI down payment, well part of at least.

1981 VW Rabbit diesel. I rolled it into a ditch when I was 16, just three months after I got my license, landed upside down. I was reading a map while driving, a skill I had obviously not mastered at the time. Walked away from it.

When I was 21, a lady pulled out in front of me in a Ford Escort when I was driving a 1988 Suzuki Samurai, her fault. The deathtrap of the Samurai was twisted up like tinfoil, but I walked away from the accident.

I haven't had a accident in over 250,000 miles now, and almost 15 years.

First accident ever, first car totaled, 2003 MCS named Homer. I was on a fun run with the AZ MINI's and had a little too fun. Insurance paid for it and I order Snowball II ('05 MCS) the day after the accident. Incredibly sad but it work out well (just look at nationals results). Good thing I had on my Schroth so I crawled out without a scratch (yes crawled after the 2.5 rolls).
