B4 I add my comments ..I'm 5'10" and 175 lbs
In case anyone is..checking

The Elise kinda reminds me of a....... killer dune buggie
It seems kool...w/ that futuristic/exotic body styling.... but.... I want to actually see one up close and personal...B4 I cast my judgement . The price certainly seems reasonable @$39K and the weight/power ratio seems...incredible.

Peace,
D

I personally have access to a Lotus Elise right now and have been driving it. My impressions are as follows:

-Definitely a second car for someone.
-It is very hard to get in and out of comfortably
-You definitely feel like you are driving a race car (as far as seating position)
-It drives very raw like everyone said.
-The Toyota engine is great. For some reason it feels much better than in the Celica. It doesn't have much torque, but I think in the lighter car the torque issue is lessened compared to lets say a Celica or a Honda.
-It is a really fun car, but in a different class than the Mini. It is a two seater, not as practical, more costly, and more of a track car than the Mini. It is tempting.

You get a lot of people looking at you, but I don't think it is the car for me. For that kind of money, I can get a slightly used Z06 which is more practical, and more fun to drive. I am sure a lot of people are going to like it though.

>>awww, how cute! WCC is now expecting the Elise to be comfortable! for his perfect proportions.

Whoa take it easy there.

I do not expect the Elise to be anything more than an Insurance Dream

The body is cheaply produced firberglass and the interior is plain. The Celica engine will accept TRD upgrades, but the LOTUS version will not.

Yes it will be sold at MSRP.

To the first 5000 ( 2 years worth sold accounted for already) But then they will be sold by everyone who purchased them for a considerable profit.

Fatso's will hate it when the jaws of life come to peel them out.

And from the buzz, the front end is a problem. There may be changes coming soon.

There will NOT be dealerships popping up. They are already here.

back at the MOD - you are supposed to be an example here. Lay off the insinuating commentary cowboy.

Hmm. Jaws of life. There is a pleasant thought.
My Elise arrives late April with the Sports and Touring
packages plus the hardtop. Easiest way in and out is
to stand straight up from the seat and exit. This is of
course without the hardtop on.
The Elise requires the attention of motorcycling so what
is th problem?
Any one want ot buy an S??

The Elise look nice, but if I'm spending $40k or so on a "pure" sports car, I'd get one of these:
