Dyno'd the 135i today
these are great cars for what they are. The engine has such a beautiful sound. Now if I can talk her into the RISS Racing exhaust and Helix FMIC.... but I don't think that is going to happen.....LOL

20% increase in torque and HP from just a tune? SaWeet!
Can it handle falling back to 87 octane in a pinch anymore though - or would that be suicide. That's my biggest fear with re-tuning FI cars...
That and killing the service and maintenance contracts the BMW's come with - or can you save and re-load the stock tune when you take it in for service?
I SOOOOOO plan on moving to a 135i Convertible when I sell the 350Z in a year or so. There should be some nice ones off lease by then. I test drove the automatice last week and the trans does shift pretty responsively, but I kinda think I still will need a clutch to really enjoy such a car.

The tune is undetectable unless they go through the ecu bit by bit. You can easily load it back to stock before you take it back to the dealer.
I'm sure you could drive it in a pinch, but I wouldn't be boosting it like you stole it. I'm not going to go into details on the tune as I know other "tooners" are trying to get to this point and I don't plan on giving them the secrets of what we found already.

I came from the LSX Corvette world where the best tune is always a custom dyno tune, but the engine and set up were so consistent that very good numbers were possible via mail-order ECU swaps.
Good to know. Is the engine consistent enough to do mail-order tunes, or will getting 135i tuning always be a dyno-tune kind of thing?

we have some more 335s etc coming in the next week or two and I will have a better idea. I want to get one in with intercooler, downpipes etc also to do a test. Working on a methanol kit for it also
