Stupid Daihatsu...
I live in Germany, there is a Darn Diahatsu shop around from my house. WTH, Im kinda pissed because they totally did a rip off on our beloved MINI's. To copy one they say is the greatest form of flattery, Im not sure WTH happened here. Its just so damn obvious its disgusting, they are trying to cheapen our sweet car. hell they didnt just copy the newer MINI but they even took hues fom the classic. They fortunately didnt bagde it a S as it has 43 PS o-60 in 12.2 seconds
Actually I think it's very cool and, believe it or not, I don't think it is a MINI ripoff. The Trevis has been around for years. Don't hate Daihatsu...they legitimately make some pretty cool little cars (Mira Gino/Trevis, Copen). Won't see them in the U.S., though.

There are some similarities, but it is different enough to be it's own car.
As some know, I spent a great deal of time in Japan last year, so I got to see how they live and what they drive.
The Japanese love, I repeat, LOVE the classic mini. It is perhaps the most common car over 5 years old in the country. I saw an average of 5 classic minis a day, not the same ones because I went all over Tokyo. It's overall popularity was only trumped by the new MINIs.
So Daihatsu cashed in on the success of the classic mini by borrowing design cues, the car is different enough and the cues are subtle enough that this is not a blatant copy, I see nothing wrong.
Here is the interior (the similarities are from color choice and construction techniques. There is more than one car with circular a/c vents.)

This next photo really looks like their version of a modern classic mini. I like the retro look to it. No matter how unique the classic mini was, other cars of that era had similar design ques with the round head lights, fender shapes, etc.
