Actually, the Stig HAS been replaced once already.

 

Jeremy does have a noticable attitude about Americans and our cars, and I can understand some of it, but it does make me ill when he makes his remarks about who we are... Yet I still love the show!

I was under the impression that the stig changes a lot and that it's not always the same guy behind the helmet.

 

As goofy as Top Gear is, it also has a very smart, intelligent edge to it and that is a big part of it's charm. I would love to think the networks would be capable of stepping up to something so smart, but given the bulk of what they peddle these days, I have reservations. If done right....a U.S. version could be brilliant, especially if you consider the unique history of the car in the U.S. and the characters/celebs who really are very intelligent when it comes to cars. Yes, the ingredients are all there, but can NBC do it right?? I fear they will be asleep at the switch....but I hope I am wrong.

Captain Slow is actually my favorite host.
