Hmm, I thought they came in white, red, yellow& silver too (and I'm guessing special order colors can be had like any other Porsche?). I know I saw a silver one for sale on some dealer's site recently (not my fav color with the orange decals and such).

I just guess the RS orange and green are popular among the California enthusiasts due to the rareity/unusualness of the hues, and then black is always popular for German cars it seems.

Aside from the nice cars I thought it was a purdy picture in general, great home and driveway huh?

The GT3RS is the oldball of the lot. I said "about the only" because I saw only orange, black and green. The standard color is black (non-metallic). All others 911s - red, black, white and yellow are standard colors. Silver metallic is the cheap upgraded paint. White, green and Orange (non-metallic I believe) are the expensive optional paint. Thats it, at least in the ordering guide (not online but the real ordering guide). Unlike others in the line, I do not believe you can special order any color. Strange huh?

Stranger yet, the non-metallic white, which is a standard color in all other cars, is the most expensive color, more than the orange and green. Weird. Usually when you see these cars at dealer or pics, they black, green or orange. The only one my dealer could get was black. I'm not sure what the production numbers are but for North America I'm guessing just a couple of hundred (probably all in CA!). Of course, you can order any other 911 in the orange or green but then its a custom color ... bigger $$.

Very odd.. Funny how color trends go, white is popular right now from the looks of things on forums and car lots. When I had the alpine M Coupe a few years ago it was a pretty unusual choice for sports cars and harder to find, despite the fact it was one of the german racing colors*.

Anyway, I won't be worrying about colors for an RS me thinks

*kinda interesting page on that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._racing_colors

Yea, I knew that was some of the few choices-it was a (too subtle??) joke.

It's a shame Porsche didn't commemorate the Gulf-Porsche team of the 60/70's with a light blue/orange combo, that would be pretty cool! If I had the scratch for ones of these I wouldn't really care what color it is at all! I was driving down PCH into Santa Monica about a year ago and was following a white/blue (nice combo) GT3 that appeared to be pretty highly tuned as well. We both headed into the tunnel headed toward Lincoln Ave and man what a sound came from that 911 and echoed off the walls- I think he kept it in 3rd just to let it sing and I did enjoy the song from the seat of my crappy rental!

I like white cars, had several. Our two MR2s, both supercharged and turbo were white. I've seen several white GT3s and TTs (but they are standard colors for those cars). I think the GT3RS thing in white is weird. Its a $4315 option.

Yeah from that wiki link, I never knew why everytime I went to the PAG website you would see the main pictures of cars in artic silver. Then I found that page a while back. My previous porsches had always been red but when I saw red this time, it looked to orangy to us. Ended up with artic silver. Didn't think I'd like it but its cool.
