Elvis has left the building

He used to work at Mini of Mountain View and gave the world's best MINI driving demonstration.

Dean "Dino" Matlock (aka Elvis)

Sept. 11, 1951 - Jan.20, 2007
Dean passed away very suddenly on Jan. 20, and will be terribly missed by many.
He is survived by his beloved children, sons Jason and Michael, daughter Sandi, brothers Doug and Craig, sister Cherie and father Cyril. He was preceded in death by his mother June and beloved son Nicholas who we pray are holding each other again.
Dean had a passion for life and a deep love for his family and close friends. His passing has left a huge hole in our lives and an emptiness in our hearts that will never be filled.
Services will be held at Spangler Mortuary, 799 Castro Street, Mt. View. Viewing at 2 p.m. service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Shriners Hosptial for Children.

If not for Dean, I would not have my MINI.

Elvis, you will be missed!

Wow, Elvis was quite a character and very entertaining to talk with. He took Cuilan for the wildest test drive either of us have experienced and at the end Cuilan stated "We have to get a Mini!". He sure made my Mini justification much easier.

Our thoughts are with his family. Dean will be missed!

This is a shock. Dean was a fun guy. A real motoring man. I took one of those memorable demo rides back in 03 and I went with my friend Karin to buy her second Mini from Dean last year. The first thing I noticed in Dean's office was a picture of Hans Stuck. Dean told me about how he raced BMW sports cars and Hans was at the events. We talked about motorcycles too; he has a restored Honda six cylinder that he really liked. Dean also got us interested in Big Mini Day and was out there encouraging everyone to have a good time. I'll remember Dean.

Condolences to the family.
I had the pleasure of getting test drives from Elvis in both a BMW and a MINI. Definitely a great driver, and quite a character.
Rest in Peace.

Paying my respects... from "the cutest girl in the world"

Dean "Elvis" was the reason that I ultimately bought my Cooper S. He gave me the ride of my life, had me hanging on to the grab handles, cracking up, as I slid around in my seat! Then he got me in the seat, told me to, "Floor it, Kiddo!" and that was that. I never wanted another car again.

He was such a nice person that I'd come in and bring treats for him, which he'd share with the guys in the back. He was so friendly and outgoing, always taking a minute to hang out with me when I came in for oil changes, or whatever. He would see me and say, "Who's the cutest girl in the world?" with a big old smile on his face, making me feel really special! He was a really great guy, and I'm really sad that he's gone.

So, here's to you, Dean. You made a difference to some people in the world, just by being you. You're an example to us all....
