How many Minis do you think will show up on Monday?

I'm going solo. Anyone who needs my extra wristband can come find me at the beach. If you pass the test for coolth, it's yours.

Sad Arthur should be easy to spot since I transformed him into a tiara-wearing trailer queen. If there's any doubt, here's a photo of his butt.

And here's a picture of the geezer you're looking for . . .

Some photos from the raod

I'm in Arizona in a motel on Route 66 and I thought I'd post some pictures of MTTS

Our start in Aptos

The kick off beach party

The drive down highway one on a Monday!

There was a nice but uneventful evening in Santa Barbara.
We left SB and headed over the mountains. Here's a driving shot of this great road This was one of the best roads I've driven in a long time!

A stop on that nice road. There were a lot of flash flood areas that were perfectly dry that day

At the stop in Barstow we met up with Fireball Tim! My kids were filmed for CAR.TV

Mini drivers were allowed to ride one of the worlds fastest roller coasters at Buffalo Bill's for free. It was fun but gave all of us screaming headache!

At 8pm we made it to the House of Blues in LV. Unfortunately the kids were not allowed in

It was a good fun two days. More pictures of the rest of out trip (Route 66, Zion, Highway 50) as soon as we take them!

Hey Creeker, I'm in a motel off Rte. 66 in Flagstaff right now!
Quite a few MINIs here, including a GP headed to its new home in Dallas.

We're meeting quite a few people.
To me, the coolest were a couple who drove from New Jersey just to participate in MTTS, not picking up a GP. They are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary with this journey. They even renewed their vows just this morning in Vegas!
Now THAT is a truly humanist story.

I'm sure there are more stories to tell.

We didn't all leave together. There were a few hundred in the parking lot for the send off. I'm not sure how many did the run. But there were a lot.

Hey.. That's the Snow White Drive-In! I've been there many times.. My brother has a vacation house right down by the Apros beach. I need to get down there more often. It's been a couple months. There's been many times that the better half and I have driven down there just for Cole's Tri Tip sandwich. I may have to make that trip this weekend..

Yeah.. what happened to the old owners??.. They took over about a year ago, it seems. I really liked the authentic, downhome, rustic atmosphere of the old BBQ. They tried to make it into a nice restaurant.. and it didn't work. The tri tip sandwiches used to be smothered in BBQ sauce.. and you ordered seasoning with a few fries tossed in. They really need to go back to the good 'ole Coles..

Forget Coles...nobody goes there anymore. Place is always empty. Try Pizza 1 when you come down. right at the entrance of Seacliff Beach. Tiny place next to Manuel's. It's awesome!

That's awesome! I hope in the end they'll put everything together into a nice photo book, would love to buy one.
Here are couple of photos from leg 1.

The only shot with everyone in my lens

Hong - glad to see you made it back in one piece ... down to Santa Barbara and back in one day must have been exhausting.

That drive wasn't too bad once I had cruise control on I was quite disappointed to see nothing interesting going on in santa barbara, I wandered cluelessly in the hotel lobby for 2 minutes, got a stamp (still of monterey, sigh) and drove away. It's more fun to just wave at every Mini passing by either direction on the way, the minifini trailer was one of very late arrivals. I spot two Minis running back on 101 with MTTS stickers on, glad I wasn't the only unlucky soul.

Awesome pics, Hong! Glad you made it back home okay.
Santa Barbara was a bit of a bummer. Too bad you couldn't go all the way to Vegas... you would have loved the drive - we had like 20 MINIs in tow for most of the route.

I'm patiently waiting for the photos...
Btw, Carol of Lompoc has a cool tea pot Mini, http://carolsspecialteas.com/about.html.
I believe it's a purple too, too bad I forgot to take a side by side photo of two purples.

Sounds like my trip. After leaving the group, hit the main hotel (nada...) walked State Street, went back to the hotel (nada...), when down to the wharf/beach area, back to the hotel (nada...) Not even the advertised Maxim girls for a chair massage.
It was fun to see MINIs strewn throughout the city, though.
Did have several MINIs on 154 flash lights on their way down.
It is ridiculous to drive to Santa Barbara and back in day? Yes.
Am I glad I did it? You betcha.
Just wish I could have joined in to Vegas!:impatient
